Stephen King books you recommend reading.

Desperation is a good but it is another one of King's books that has a unsatisfying ending

The Eyes Of The Dragon is a really good book by him and much different than the rest of his work. If you like medieval type settings check it out.

in the 80s i loved the one where he had a wearwolf friend

I like many different genre and many different kinds of fiction. For me, a story doesn't have to be apart of a certain genre, or even particularly well written (although it does help that King's novels are very well written IMO) for me to like them. They just have be entertaining and engaging. So chances I are I will like the Eyes Of The Dragon as well.

As a writer, I think On Writing is one of the best books ever written on the task of creating fiction. Even if you aren't a writer, it's a great read and is much more than the nuts and bolts of writing. I'm not crazy about King personally, but he's just brilliant. If he wrote anything other than horror, he would be universally recognized as one of the greats. The elite literature snobs never gave him his proper due.

The dark tower is his best stuff imo. The stand is worth it. Beyond those i find clive barker to be a more rewarding. King has his moments though and the dark tower is one of the best stories ever.
Oh man, I waited to watch the the dark tower movie til I finished the whole series. That movie sucked balls and had like zero to do with the books. Great series tho. And as far as The Stand goes, try the extended version

Thanks, at some point I do plan on reading the Dark Tower series. I want to read The Stand as well, but I'm going to have to get prepared for a long ride first. Because it look me forever to read IT, and from what I understand The Stand is even longer than IT.
Do the extended version. It's worth it

Oh absolutely, King is the master of writing an enthralling and engaging story. I've never seen an author who has the ability to get you sucked into the story as well as Stephen King does. There might be better writers than King, but I've yet to see a more entertaining writer than King.
Horror as a genre has always been the red headed step child of fiction. Horror movies usually get snubbed at the Oscars, and horror novels are typically not as popular to the public as adventure, fantasy, or Sci-Fi novels. That's probably one of the reason I'm such a big horror fan, I've always had a tendency to root for the underdogs.

Well from what I understand, adapting the Dark Tower into one movie is sort of like trying to adapt the Harry Potter or The Lord of the Rings series with one movie. It couldn't be done. Also there is a bunch of Lovecraftian esque stuff in there that is hard enough to adapt into film as it is correct?
Thanks, I'll be sure check that out as well.

Yes it gets harder and harder as it goes to adapt

Cool, King wrote a few books under the Richard Bachman pseudonym from what I understand. I'm sure I will end up reading them all at some point.
Well, lets hope it is better then the Darker Tower movie.
The Running Man was a Bachman book

I bought it, then the TV show came out and watched that instead. Another Stephen King thing that had me in tears. James Franco was flippin wonderful.

Funny thing how people see things differently. I thought Franco ruined it and never finished it because of that. I actually really like james franco too he just wasn't working for this imo. I think he did great with The Deuce and The Disaster Artist since then though.

My issue with some of his books is that it feels like he writes a great book and then when it gets to the last 1/4 of the book he’s just like fuck it and wraps it up poorly.
