2) When he was a kid in Indonesia, students were required to list religion, so his form would have listen the religion of his step-dad even though the step-dad was not a practicing Muslim. A kid has no say , so it is deliberately misleading of you to try and claim he self-identified as Muslim while leaving out the pertinent facts.

3) What does his surname being Soetoro have anything to do with any of this? His step-dad's surname was Soetero; So he used it . He changed it when he was old enough. How many American kids take the surname of their step-dads? I have noticed the rightwing peddle this "Barry Soetero" fact as evidence of some sort of nefarious behavior . Barry is just easier to recall than Barack, there is nothing nefarious about it.

The irony is that Barry is far more Western a name than Barack but the rightwing turned it into a negative because they want to peddle the belief that Obama is hiding his past.

Rightwing Whites (of the sort who gravitated to Trump when he latched onto Birtherism, the FreeRepublic, Breitbart and Fox news types) only like Blacks who act submissive, who don't bring up America's past, who don't criticize the injustices of the system, who accept their station in life and not act uppity.
