That's not necessarily true. AA was ranked around #5 in the world when he fought Fedor, but he was ranked #3 in the world as recently as 2015 after beating Schaub, Bigfoot, Hapa, and Mir.

This is how it should look like if based only on who beat who. IMO 12 fight win streak in UFC that includes former champions is worth more than just being a champion.
