Stats show that Andrei arlovski was beating Fedor until the KO

i thought Arlovski was going to beat Fedor. to me, he was the most dangerous striker that Fedor fought since Mirko. Arlovski was the fastest guy he'd have fought since Mirko and threw in combinations better than anyone Fedor had fought previously and i thought his size and athleticism would be able to neutralize the grappling.

when Arlovski was eventually KO'd i couldn't believe it. i thought he was winning also, but he made a huge mistake in thinking he had Fedor hurt. when in reality he was winning but not by much and it was still in the 1st rd. had he not thrown the knee would he have won? who knows but i think eventually Fedor would've got him. he never hurt or even rocked Fedor at any point in time and Fedor was a master at making adjustments in fights.

it doesn't really matter at this point, Arlovski had his chance and came up short.

So you've decided that a guy who "won" (despite barely actually landing anything) for half a round would have won the fight if not for the flying knee?

You do know that winning is more than a strike count, right? Especially when half of the strikes counted didn't even land. There are other factors such as cardio, versatility to change game plans, fight IQ, etc.... Fedor was a master at baiting his opponents into the KO.

1 month old account thinks he should be educating people who have been watching since '97 (or longer).... nevermind, checks out... carry on.

Imagine if he doesn't go for the flying knee

full

I think 99% of the general MMA population would agree.

Wholly time warp.

What fight is great example of poor fight IQ and someone landing a lucky punch

OK . I found this slow mo vid , which shows right before the KO , Arlovski missed 5 out of 5 punches that I thought all hit when I saw it live .

Yup. Also remember his main coach said that fedor wasn't training like he used to any more. Basically admitting fedor was no longer in his prime as a fighter anymore.

One of the biggest shocker for me was the size difference, Fedor looked so tiny compared to AA in the ring.

Funny part is that he made 3 times more money then Fedor

Lovski was in his 20s, training with Freddie Roach and at his very best in that fight. He was coming off wins over Werdum, Nelson, and Rothwell and stopped Nelson and Rothwell brutally back when no-one was doing such things. He had a lot of confidence coming into that fight. He was doing well and countering Fedors wider punches with his own straight shots down the middle but got over-excited and went for a high risk maneuver and Fedor swatted him out of the sky right in front of Donald Trump with baseball slugger like timing. It was glorious but definitely not one of Fedors best showings. According to his coaches, Fedor didn't train properly and was shooting a shitty, straight to DVD movie in Thailand for half of his fight camp and won the fight by using his "old tricks"

The punch was so fast most people in arena didnt see it. Big John McCarthy didnt even see it. Only Donald Trump saw it- in another angle you can see him stand up instantly. Stuff of legends. Dana wishes this happened at his house.

The fight was too short to say he was winning. It didn't even make it past the first round. Imo in order to say AA was winning, he would have atleast have to win the first round. But he was already KO'd by then.

I had bought the ppv back in the day.
I believed he was training with Freddy Roach at the time and Freddy of course had some heat because of Manny pacman, Amir Khan, and he worked with GSP. He was actually doing pretty well and controlling the fight. Fedor had been on top for so long and so people were speculating Andrei might do well because of his streak and a possible decline with Fedor. I think he knocked out Roy Nelson around that time and so there was an idea that he was back and worked out his issues. But then yeah, he did the infamous flying knee and Fedor had incredible reflexes and cracked his ass. I was actually more of a fanboy back in the day and I thought maybe Fedor was about to be decisioned this night.

Ya, I remember that video. Arvloski really didnt land anything.

Andrei landed a few decent shots. Fedor rolled with some, bounced some off his shoulder but a few got through. It just looked like nothing because Fedors chin was still iron back then.

This analysis is why you've become the biggest joke on Sherdog.

Tell me which part I got wrong?

1. Arlovski was winning the fight until that point

2. Jumping knee was bad fight IQ from Arlovski

3. Fedor landed a lucky punch

Lucky punch? The GOAT read and timed it absolutely perfectly.

Here's an idea though. Since you talk a lot but have zero substance, let's make a two-week AV bet. Start a poll asking whether it was lucky. If the majority say it was lucky you win, if not then I win. Deal?
