State of the Strawweight Division

In the wake of International Fight Week, I am going to do a "State of the Union" type of thing for each division. I will break down who I believe are immediate contenders, critical upcoming fights in the division, and what to look for on the horizon.

I will start with Strawweight and go up to Heavyweight.

Who is your #1 contender? I'm sure many of you would like to see Jessica Andrade up there.

When you get to Bantamweight, give some credit to Shevchenko. 56-2 pro kickboxer (beat JJ THREE TIMES). Lost to Nunes via decision in March vs. rd1 KO's for the other three recent Nunes fights. The 7/23 Shevchenko / Holm fight will be a slugfest. Vegas pegs Shevchenko at 25% chance to win (+300), I'd say its closer to 50/50.

I saw her fight against Kaufmann in Orlando. Very excited to see her fight Holly.

I don't mean to be a negative Nancy and it could be because the SW division is not nearly as deep as LW division or others- but I thought the article was kind of stale. Nothing really interesting about it and the mentions were fairly obvious. Would have been interesting if you talked about some darkhorses or other prospects that you think are going to jump up the rankings sometime soon.
