Started watching The Sopranos

The ending wasn't that bad. So what if Tony leaves the killing and crime behind and becomes a lumberjack?

And i actually agree, that was worse.

Also i think peoples understimate Sopranos ending because was awkward for tv storytelling "rules", but once you get the meaning behind it it's actually genius

I've always heard this is a great show, one of the best. So I started watching it, so far I've gotten through 10 episodes. It's honestly not what I was expecting, there's less mafia shit and more people drama so far. The show so far is about Tony's life and his personal struggles, the mafia stuff has taken a backseat for the most part.

So my question is, is the whole show like this? Is there any intense action or does the mafia part of it pick up anytime soon or at all? Not that I think its boring or anything, its interesting, but I had different expectations going in. When does the show start getting really good?

Huh? What do you mean?

Original movie got some documentary vibe that's supposed to give you disgust for the situation
Was more about degrade than "action"
To give the idea the writer of the original book had to live under protection after the book was released.
Some debated how real were the death menaces to him(mostly took it seriously), but thing is Gomorra was never be supposed to be a "The Godfather"

Tv series while very well made start to get a bit of romanticized "cool" crime drama vibe, that's exactly the opposite of what was

Tried getting into the show, tried very hard and watched the entire first three seasons, and finally called it quits.

Alright show, but highly overrated, IMO.

Didnt they wack a few people in the first few episodes? Like one guy got offed in the bath tub naked, then another gets killed while on a jog and chased through the woods. And didnt Tony take a college visit with Meadow only to go find a guy and choke him to death with rope?

I got this full set on Blu Ray for 50 bucks. gonna probably re watch it for the 6th time i think. If anyone wants the full set of DVD's ill sell it to you for 20 bucks.

Yeah the movie was documentary vibe while the series is shot in a more fictional style, but I don't see anything being romanticized. It's still a Roberto Saviano story, based on true events, and there's not a single character to indentify with, let alone a scene that trivializes the life in and around Scampia.

there's so much shit i want to spoil for this guy, it's tempting.

Sopranos is still a show that you can rewatch several times. Breaking Bad, while a great show, is much harder to watch multiple times at it is completely plot-driven and built on suspense.

That isn't true at all and I'd rather rewatch BB over The Sopranos.

I rewatch the entire series every 3 or so years and am never disappointed

I've also been rewatching it too and it's still awesome.
I enjoy watching how quickly the characters age, and the pace is perfect.

Feech La Manna was scary

Lol yeah they did, but these were a few isolated incidents that didn't really lead anywhere. Also please no spoilers people, I just said this show isn't what I was expecting, didn't say I didn't like it or will stop watching.

that maybe the case with you,but certainly not for me,i have rewatched Breaking Bad,and while I may get around to rewathching the sopranos,i'd be just as happy leaving it as something that I'd already watched and moving onto something new.

My only problem were the kids. I seriously hated AJ and Meadow. AJ was a little bitch and Meadow all about the first two letters of her name.

Ive tried to watch it more than once and couldnt stand it. Like the other person noted it comes like like a r rated soap opera. That and tonys stupid voice as well as the steven van zants comical perma frown made it ridiculous.

I enjoyed Board Walk Empire though. I was shocked some of the sopranos people were involved with it.
