Started watching The Sopranos

Great show. People get too hung up on endings. If you watched all 86 hour + episodes through 6 seasons it's safe to assume you enjoyed the show and didn't want it to end.

I'm on season 4 right now. Its good but its not The Wire good

I hate Tony and his cheating ass

The Sopranos is a much better show however and anyone only on s1 or s2 should carry on an watch them all. My only problem with it is the end but probably not something to discuss here or without spoiler tags.

The ending wasn't that bad. So what if Tony leaves the killing and crime behind and becomes a lumberjack?

The Sopranos is a great show. I'd put it somewhere in the bottom half of my top 10.

Nothing at all wrong with being a lumberjack but yeah if Tony and him had ended up chopping down trees there'd be the perfect opportunity for a spin off.

When I watched the end of the Sopranos I thought I'd missed something so I watched it again, and again and one more time just to make sure and then I realised that I hadn't missed anything and that was the way it ended.

I've watched them all again a couple of times so the ending really wasn't a problem, I just think they could have done it better.

You should watch Gomorrah.

Everybody should. Sopranos was my all time No. 2 TV series until I got into Gomorra. On the same level as The Wire imo.

It was easier to get into than the wire which is also awesome but more work to watch initially.

True. I took me 4 seasons to acknowlege it's GOAT status. :D When I rewatched the first and second season I realized how great they were from the beginning, I just had to get to know and love all those characters at first.

More Pauly Walnuts and Christopher later in the show also.

Pine Barrens is probably my favourite episode.

It's the best show off all time and will get better.

If you want stupid, unrealistic, not based in reality video game type action sequences maybe go watch Sons Of Anarchy or somenthing

The Sopranos ending was perhaps the greatest ending ever....not trolling.

I've always heard this is a great show, one of the best. So I started watching it, so far I've gotten through 10 episodes. It's honestly not what I was expecting, there's less mafia shit and more people drama so far. The show so far is about Tony's life and his personal struggles, the mafia stuff has taken a backseat for the most part.

So my question is, is the whole show like this? Is there any intense action or does the mafia part of it pick up anytime soon or at all? Not that I think its boring or anything, its interesting, but I had different expectations going in. When does the show start getting really good?
ITs more of a dark comedy than a drama really. Its my favorite series but I had to give it a couple of tries before I could get into it.

The show is basically as you describe it. It focuses more on the characters lives and they just happen to be in the mafia.

The reason the show is so good is due to the dialogue/character building and mixing of drama, dark comedy, action, etc. The show definitely has the mob elements throughout and scenes with that, but the actual storylines of each character outside of their working life is what makes the show interesting.

Sopranos is still a show that you can rewatch several times. Breaking Bad, while a great show, is much harder to watch multiple times at it is completely plot-driven and built on suspense.

It actually would have been better if they had let David Chase end it the way he wanted to end it.

“Originally, I didn’t want any credits at all,” says Chase. “I just wanted the black screen to go the length of the credits — all the way to the HBO ‘whoosh’ sound. But the Directors Guild wouldn’t give us a waiver.”

Season 1 lays the groundwork.
2 and 3 are my favorite
and 4 and 5 were not bad.

Also Tony's dad is played by a good actor imo

Have you seen Boardwalk Empire?

This is another high quality show, but perhaps more what you are looking for if you want Mafia action.

Both shows definitely have slow periods, though.

It picks up violence wise when philly Leotardo is released from prison. Poor beansy

IMO, the show gets better and better as it goes on. It definitely hits a new stride in season 3, when we're introduced to Ralph Cifaretto.

my favourite TV show of all time

Paulie and Christopher are comedy gold when on screen together

"I'll leave you here you one shoe cocksucker"

Sopranos is how you seen it, for good or for bad
Personally i liked it, i found it brilliant

If you want a more strictly "mafia" tv series that goes straight to the power/business, Gomorra is very grounded and authentic with a kinda international vibe compared to usual italian production

Personally i preferred Sopranos, but maybe is because i dislike see some take Gomorra as celebration, specially since the original movie had kinda the opposite message
