People are, in fact, ignoring the overly poppy 'quips' that fill up movies these days. Not everybody is a fast talking fruitcake, it's ok to have some serious moments in life.. And in movies.

There were only a few in the movie and I believe they were well placed. Soooo much better than jar jar or Ewan McGregor's "comedic" moments.

Parents of younger children with short attention spans. I bet if Disney could have made it shorter they would've.

Star Wars die hards are not the target demographic Disney is trying to hit. This is strictly for the kids who have parents that can buy them toys. Why do you think Lucas finally threw in the towel?

This is a decent merchandising movie for kids with the continuation of a classic franchise attached as a small bonus for the parents.

That's it. That's all. Like it or don't. Makes no difference. Disney got your money already, even two or three times.

Animatronic Walt is kicking back, smoking its e-cigarette, while its employees dump wheelbarrows of cash at his feet.

Good lord! Someone needs to photoshop a picture of Walt Disney in Sith robes, lol.

True. This definitely wasn't a film for the diehards, unfortunately. There was a quote by Abrams that he wanted to make everything super easy to follow, which makes sense. I was thinking about that quote when the Rebels were formulating a plan to blow up the planet. Like jeeze, that was easy. lol

I checked out the Jar Jar theory. Proves that you can find anything if you're looking hard enough and want to believe it.

LOL You just wait till episode 9 when we find out Jar Jar is Darth Plagueis.

With the success of the MCU I feel like it's just going to get worse, but I hope I'm wrong. There was some backlash to Age of Ultron but it still made a killing so that doesn't matter.

I thought this also but kids went to see the lord of the rings movies and those are like 4 hours lol

To me personally, LotR didn't have nearly the toy merchandising Star Wars does. LotR also was a more adult oriented story being translated to films than say Harry Potter was. For all intents and purposes, LotR movies was actually for the fans, because Peter Jackson himself was an actual fan.

Anyone hear about the "reincarnation" theories? Rey is Anakin and Snoke is Palp. Sounds a little silly imo

I liked the theory that Rey is of Kenobi lineage. In Rey's "flashback" the voice was Ewan McGregor. After ROTS and the collapse of the Jedi, Kenobi would have no more vows. The theory is that Luke may have gotten with Kenobis daughter or granddaughter and had Rey. This would explain why she has the genetic lotto to be so strong with the force. Since she is so strong, Luke would have feared that what happened to Kylo might happen to her so he abandoned her. He may have told R2 that if Rey should find her way to the rebellion to lead her to him. That would explain why it was so convenient that R2 woke up at the end for Rey to find Luke.

See the toy merchandising is why the movie should have been longer.

They introduced plenty of new characters as well as the classic characters, because of that the movie needed to be longer.

I already stated my case on Phasma. I think she should've been used on Jakku and to battle Finn with the light saber when they were escaping Maz's watering hole.

Instead they used no name storm troopErs. Didn't mske much sense to me.

But like I said those were my biggest gripes.

Makes sense but I don't think they would have Obi Wan break his vows.

Theory also floating around that Snoke is actually Plagueis. It kinda looks like him.

My theory on Rey is that she is an inadvertent love child of a distraught Luke after Ren did what he did. I thought maybe Leia had another after Solo took off, but I don't see her keeping that from Han.

Two other possibilities are either Kanan or Ezra depending on how Rebels plays out. Kanan would be a late 40's dad and Ezra would be early 30's.

A way out of left field theory would be Quinlan Vos, but age might rule him out unless he used some of that dark side training he received in the EU.

But Luke makes the most, EASIEST, sense.

I like the idea that Luke hooked up with someone from Kenobi's line, and he doesn't have to have broken his nonsensical vows of chastity from the retarded prequels for it to work. It could be a great-grand-niece or something. We never found out if Kenobi had brothers or sisters or something like that.

The Kenobi family could be huge!

I'm like 99% sure it is. They wouldn't get Ewan to do voice work if it wasn't the case. I do hope it is Obi Wan's kid, though. Once the council is gone he is no longer held to his vows. I like the idea of Obi Wan having elements of a normal life after all that he went through.

i guess its hard to live up to Darth Vader type epic bad guy but this star wars doesnt have anybody really worth fearing. just some emo kid who rage quits when things dont go his way.

He looks like a chump in the movie. He gets punked by anybody with an ounce of skill. New force uses, former janitors, Chewy with a gun. W/e. Even taking off his helmet was lame scene that made him look weak.

Don't forget he also gets punked by Domhnall Gleeson. Unforgivable. The most egregious was definitely him looking weak vs the janitor. That's like if Ariel Helwani did surprisingly well and wobbled Alistair Overeem in a kickboxing match.

Crazy theory that just came to mind...

- let's say Darth Snookie is actually Plaqueis.
- let's then assume that the powers Plagueis has match up with how Sidious described him. (able to cheat death and create life...)
- let's assume then that Darth Plaquies created Anakin to kill Sidious and bring balance to the force.
- Luke leaving Rey on a planet to fend for herself knowingly seems sketchy and not within his character that we know
- she's an amazing pilot (as was Anakin)
- she's connected to that lightsaber (the one Anakin built)
- she can speak droid, she can speak wookie
- she seems to know the millennium falcon better than han mother fucking solo...
- she's a natural at learning the force somehow...

so we could theorize that somehow she's related to Luke without Luke knowing possibly...

Could we then suspect that she too was created from the force by Darth Plagueis just as Anakin was? That would make her technically a Skywalker but not born by Luke...tracing Anakin's lineage back to being born from the same force that would later create Rey.

yea they went over the top trying to humanize him. the same way they went over the top trying to make Rey perfection. She is already the ultimate star wars badass of all time. she learns the force and 5 min later defeating one of the baddest dudes in the galaxy in a saber fight with no prior training?? Even morally she is perfection whereas Yoda, Luke, Hans, Obi Wan etc all had flaws.

they tried way too hard to finally make a female hero but instead of a realistic one they went way over the top. Give her a 2min montage of training with Luke and she will be the greatest Jedi in history.

already she can beat Yoda "under the right circumstances". She is clearly a "once in history" force wielder.

She would definitely make Joe Rogan cry...

Yoda laid the pipe to a chick strong in the force. That explains why all her acting looks like she has a hand up her ass.
