saw it yesterday. it was OK. Story very similar to original and nothing that surprising happened. it all seemed predictable. dialogue was decent, some humor but overall not some magical experience for me.

I bet there is a ton of stuff on the cutting room floor that was sacrificed to the Gods of Pacing that would have made for a better overall movie. One can only hope that there is a Blu Ray "Director's Cut" in the future.

The movie was 2 hours and 16 min and still felt rushed. I definitely think there's a lot more footage that would have helped piece the story together better.

Saw it the second time around...and still a 5/10 for me. Movie almost seemed comedic...and goofy. Like you're watching a Pixar film or something, but the story line sucked.

I don't care what anyone says....The movie seemed very dumb down, just like most every other film plopping out these days. Hipsters would agree.

I thought I would never says this...Phantom Menace > Awaken

so...why did you post this?

I just saw it for the second time last night. It was a far worse experience than the first time. At the end of the movie somebody tried to clap but everybody just ignored it lol But I wouldn't put it lower than TPM. It's about on par but still over Revenge of the Sith. It's solidly the 4th best Star Wars.

After a second viewing, the best part of the movie by far is when they get captured for a second but the rebels rescue them. Such a good moment. Not only that but Kylo is actually scary. Fin uses the lightsaber to fight a storm trooper and it's even. THAT ACTUALLY MAKES SENSE. They regroup with the resistance and all those scenes were great.

Everything before and after that was meh. Kylo's entrance was money but completely ruined by, "Do I talk first?" Really Disney? Really? This is what we're doing now? Every one of your movie is going to have Marvel style quips every time there's any tension? For fucks sake. But I guess I can't blame them. They're making money hand over fist off that tired formula.

The Fin vs Kylo fight was more ridiculous than I remember it. They way Fin looked against Kylo and the way Rey looked against Kylo was too similar. Fin should not have held up that well and he DEFINITELY shouldn't have been able to land a blow.

That brings me to another problem I had with the movie. People were getting tagged with lightsabers left and right. Since when is getting hit with a lightsaber so inconsequential? Every blow just happened to be grazing blows? That took me out of the movie. In all the other movies if you got hit with a lightsaber it meant something. Limbs were coming off. Getting touched by a lightsaber = death. The way they were getting hit reminded me of Power Rangers and how when they get hit sparks fly off but they're otherwise okay. And yea yea I know Fin was in the hospital at the end but it still seemed weak.

Big Brown Clown didn't like th movie, does nothing but bitch and moan about it yet sees it twice.

Honestly leave this thread and do everyone here a favor.

It felt beyond rushed. I've said this like 50 times.

The movie needed an extra 30-40 min IMO. A solid 3 hour movie wouldn't have been the end of the world.

Some down time between the action.

Plus who's gonna turn down a longer Star Wars movie. Not me.

You have to remember the run time includes the credits. So this movie was just a hair over 2 hours.

Yeah it's usually the studio that forces the extensive amount of editing. When the suits get involved, creativity dies.

i agree with the needing an extra 20-30 minutes of development

I have seen it twice and there is no doubt in my mind that Kylo was tooling Fin - he was still dealing with the injury so Fin did get off a lucky strike but Fin was clearly no match at all - though i do think between his fight with the storm trooper and Kylo, Fin definitely had combat training.

I also agree the ending with the camera panning around luke was lame-o. it could have ended with this face shot, which i took was disappointment

you gave the movie a 5 and then saw it again less than a week later?

It's not unreasonable at all. Movies like this are events and we're all huge fans of the Star Wars franchise. We've probably all watched the Star Wars movies more times than we can count. A lot of times you can watch a movie in one mood on one day, and then watch it on another day and feel a lot differently about it. You want to watch it again to see if it reaffirms your opinion or changes it, especially if you WANT to like it.

Parents of younger children with short attention spans. I bet if Disney could have made it shorter they would've.

Star Wars die hards are not the target demographic Disney is trying to hit. This is strictly for the kids who have parents that can buy them toys. Why do you think Lucas finally threw in the towel?

This is a decent merchandising movie for kids with the continuation of a classic franchise attached as a small bonus for the parents.

That's it. That's all. Like it or don't. Makes no difference. Disney got your money already, even two or three times.

Animatronic Walt is kicking back, smoking its e-cigarette, while its employees dump wheelbarrows of cash at his feet.

Good lord! Someone needs to photoshop a picture of Walt Disney in Sith robes, lol.

I don't think the movie needed to be longer. I think you could have cut out or cut short one of the action scenes and used it for some exposition. The scene with the monsters on the freighter was fun, but didn't add much value and was honestly the weakest use of CGI in the movie. I would've got rid of that. IMO, the movie actually was too fast paced all the time.

yes but Lucas was guilty of the very thing from the first movie. all he wanted was the merchandising rights.

I agree with the other poster. You didn't like it but saw it twice.

Borderline idiotic. So yeah I agree with the guy callin you out.

I thought this also but kids went to see the lord of the rings movies and those are like 4 hours lol

I checked out the Jar Jar theory. Proves that you can find anything if you're looking hard enough and want to believe it.

little hitler should have had a scene saving ren with a smug ass look on his face. "i was going to leave you but supreme leader ordered me to save you."
snoke says "get ren then bring him to me" two seconds later planet explodes?

Yeah. It's a really silly idea but there are people in here that are convinced that it's true.

People are, in fact, ignoring the overly poppy 'quips' that fill up movies these days. Not everybody is a fast talking fruitcake, it's ok to have some serious moments in life.. And in movies.

7/10 for me, and I'm easy to please when it comes to movies. Friends / coworkers really built it up, maybe that's why my rating is lower than a lot of others. Liked it, glad I went to see it, but didn't leave blown away.
