STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS Official Thread v.7 (Crosses $1 Billion Worldwide)

So I just finished rewatching it a 2nd time. I enjoyed the movie more this time around more than the 2nd. I was able to gather an opinion unlike my 1st viewing where I was completely uncertain if I liked it or not.

Regarding the Lightsaber fight, on 2nd viewing I noticed Kylo was toying with Finn. It wasn't even close. And he had Rey running away on defense. It wasn't until she tapped into the Force that she had any momentum. Though I still don't like how she beat him down after that. She better have some kind of prior training.

Oh, and Kylo still has all his limbs if anyone was wondering. I thought he had his hand cut off, but they're all still there.

Kylo Ren had been blasted full to the body with Chewie's crossbow-cannon and was losing a lot of blood and getting weaker as it went on.

Could it be possible that because she could be the daughter of Luke and another unknown party that she's just stronger in the Force than Ren? She's already shown to be gifted with a staff and as a pilot.

Luke was a natural X-Wing pilot taking down the Death Star in a New Hope and picking up the lightsabre so quickly because it's not like he got much in depth training from Obi Wan, his training was basically just messing around with that practice bot thing on the Millenium Falcon.

Yea, I'm starting to think she's really not his kid. It'd be easier if we knew her age in the flashback and age now, then we could get a proper timeline on whether she was Kylo's younger sister or maybe even twin. They never mention I don't believe the age Kylo is when he goes to the dark side, lot's of sith apprentices are plucked at a very young age, at least in the EU.
I was told there would be no math.
I think Luke's the obvious choice, which means you're probably right that it's not him. That would leave Leia or... another possible spawn of Plagueis maybe?
I hope not, he is a good actor, don't get me wrong but he isn't sci-fiy enough
He's just the regular guy. Like there are actors that are good in period pieces? He isn't
I think JGL can pull it off. Grow him a fumanchu and a man-bun or something... he's right there.

It would also make sense if she's Han's kid because she took to the Falcon like she owned it.

I was reading any article that the force may have just spawned her much like it did Anakin.

The bottle coke glasses chick flat out gives it up. (and this is if you ignore the flash back scene where exalisaber shows her anakins past, lukes past and her past/future...

"That saber was luke skywalker's and his father's before him...and now it's calling to you..."

So now we need a reasonable explanation as to why Luke...a dude who was dumped on Tatooine with his Aunt and Uncle...dumps his daughter alone on a planet to fend for herself...and why Leia can't detect her force/lineage.

It's still ambiguous. ET makes it sound like the connection Rey's looking for is not from her past but in her future.

Fuck this new layout is not mobile friendly.

Anyway

In response to the below post:

I think Luke fell in love, perhaps even with a student, who gave birth to a daughter that was later kidnapped/presumed dead. This broke Luke mentally, and Ren going insane was the last straw.

Vader loved his son, Luke loved his daughter and lost her...maybe.

There always room for another hot girl in a Star-Wars movie too, so a Mara Jade type character could easily come into play.

Hell, maybe Luke's woman just left him high and dry for another man and took off with the kid and a step-dad.

Lots of reasons to sell a kid into slavery in the galaxy too. Or leave a kid somewhere while being chased by someone.

"Excalisaber" is on a short list of names for the next movie.

There are two new lead female actresses cast for episode 8

I think one will be Jedi one dark side user

Finally saw it today.

8/10 on the poll, but really 7.5

Everything pro and con that has been levied on this film are pretty spot on.

At the end of the day, it was worth the price of admission, and my new to Star Wars daughters loved it. We went to eat at a diner after and I was so glad they had so many questions to ask me about Star Wars history.

I could care less if it mirrored A New Hope. The formula still works almost 40 years later. They are hooked as new fans. I get that the faithful haven't really been rewarded with this new movie as they would have liked. I think the pay off Disney is hoping for is a new generation of diehards. I'm absolutely fine with that now. My kids have already asked me to buy the blu ray set of I to VI so they can see what they've missed.

Which is great, because until TFA, they really didn't want to see an old "Daddy" movie.

This is just my initial input. I will have more to contribute later.

She also said something about how she wouldn't find her family but she would fine a sense of belonging. Which I took her mean her parents are gone but she'll find her place among the Jedi.

Someone above suggested that maybe she was just spawned by the force. Supposedly Anakin didn't have a Father his Mother just got pregnant by "the Force".

If Rey is Luke's seed then a Mara Jade character will definitely come into play. Episode 8 is going to probably be the Empire Strikes Back of the this new trilogy. Cannot wait.

In my last post I wondered about the other cloaked figured that were seen standing behind Kylo in Rey's vision. I bet they were students of Luke's that turned.
