Thanks for posting the pic, there's other pics of him also wielding a lightsaber and he looks even more identical.

Darth Maul was such a badass character, too bad we didin't get much of his backstory or anything in the Phantom Menace, but his story in the EU was pretty awesome.

I"m also completely sold that the "Phantom Menace" was supposed to be Jar Jar Binks and George Lucas chickened out like a bitch, too much evidence for it to be coincidence.

Just a funny detail that I just found out. Remember that Resistance pilot chick during the attack on Starkiller Base? She was played by the same chick who played Nymeria Sand in the latest season of Game of Thrones.

Even if she had training it would have been when she was, what, five years old? Even if Ren's isn't complete he is still highly skilled and powerful.

I'm not saying the movie was bad, quite the contrary actually, but the way they created and presented the respective "power" of the protagonist and antagonist makes very little sense.
I suspect her force is bigger than his. But the point is she could have learned how to tap into that at a young age, especially if she is Luke's kid, and then repressed or had those memories locked away only to be "Awakened" when the time comes. There's also a good chance Snoke wanted her all along and is using Ren for that purpose.

maybe she has repressed memories and touching that lightsaber brought out her old skills. Luke might have done a Jedi reboot so that she wasn't traumatised by Ren going Columbine on all her Jedi classmates, and to stop him and Snoke from making her evil.
Definitely possible and I think the movie hints at something along these lines.

lmao, yea it's a trilogy. Episode 8 comes out in 2017, there will two anthropology movies and episode 9 comes out in 2019 and there's a good chance there will be another triology with episode 10, 11, and 12.
Yeah, I'm willing to let it all play out before I make a final judgement. All I know is I enjoyed the first movie a lot, and there are some things that happened which are now facts that leave me with questions. Based on hints from the movie I expect good answers.

...we have no clue when Plageius was killed by Sideus so we have no clue whether it was Sideus or Plageuis that spawend Anakin.
You're right. I guess the ballet scene always struck me as Palpatine's hilariously not-so-incognito way of revealing both his Sith nature and that he created Anakin. I like to imagine it like a Christopher Guest sketch where he's getting increasingly bolder with his clues, yet Anakin still isn't getting it.

It's very possible, like I said in the EU he didn't kill Plagueis until after Attack of the Clones, but in canon (which is what matters) we don't know much about Plageius or when he was killed.

J.J. Abrams Regrets Not Directing STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII

JJ-Abrams-Star-Wars-110713-Dragonlord.jpg

In a rare moment of revealing honesty from Star Wars: Episode VII director, J.J. Abrams, he admitted regret towards not staying aboard the Star Wars ship for Episode XIII.

Greg Grunberg, who has been working with Abrams on various projects since Felicity and LOST, where he played Oceanic 815's pilot, says Abrams wishes he was sticking around for the next installment. "He read it and said something he never, ever says," Grunberg told The Washington Post about Abrams' reaction to Episode VIII's script. "He said, 'It's so good, I wish I were making it."

Though the millions of us who have seen Episode VII wish Abrams was sticking around, his seal of approval and admiration for Episode VIII's script should be reassuring. "He may have said something one time on Lost with Damon [Lindelof]," Grunberg continued, "but I never hear him express regret like that."

Abrams is not completely hands-off with the Star Wars franchise. He'll still be around, producing the franchise, as he does with Star Trek. Star Wars: Episode VIII hits theaters May 27, 2017.

Episode VIII will be directed by Rian Johnson of Looper, Brick and The Brothers Bloom. Prior to The Force Awakens' release, Abrams and Johnson would share early cuts of the film to make the franchise's transition into a new director more seamless.

J.J. Abrams Regrets That He's Not Directing Star Wars Episode VIII
If it is really that good, and considering that mofo Rian has directed Ozymandias, then damn son.

So I just finished rewatching it a 2nd time. I enjoyed the movie more this time around more than the 2nd. I was able to gather an opinion unlike my 1st viewing where I was completely uncertain if I liked it or not.

Regarding the Lightsaber fight, on 2nd viewing I noticed Kylo was toying with Finn. It wasn't even close. And he had Rey running away on defense. It wasn't until she tapped into the Force that she had any momentum. Though I still don't like how she beat him down after that. She better have some kind of prior training.

Oh, and Kylo still has all his limbs if anyone was wondering. I thought he had his hand cut off, but they're all still there.

I'm glad Rian is directing over JJ. I've enjoyed Brick, Looper, and Breaking Bad episode, Ozymandias, more than most of JJ's filmology. Not to say his movies are bad, I enjoy them as well, Rian is way better at story-telling and emotional scenes.

I believe it's Sidious who's supposed to have done that, having learned Plagueis' ways. But honestly I'm not sure what counts as canon.

I liked it as a love letter to the STAR WARS. The optimism comes off a little like "Can you BELIEVE we're in a STAR WARS movie, dude?!" and like with Abrams' TREK you absolutely have to know the previous installments to thoroughly enjoy it. He definitely is putting in the images and hallmarks of STAR WARS, tweaked with his bouncy hip hop sensibilities.

My favorite part was Chewie, except for his cankles. He was given more close-ups, which made him seem less like a dude in a suit. I want more though. I better see some sweet vine-swinging action in the next films, boy. What use is updating the franchise if you don't go ANDRE3000% with Chewie? Can you imagine a nimble Chewie? My nipples are hard.

I felt the film really got going when Finn begged BB-88 to do him a solid. I marked the hell out when Leia, of all people, finally said it: May the Force be with you. I also kinda laughed because British Kylo signifies "evil," but Jay Baruchel Kylo means "conflicted." It was a very Moranis moment how he's this guy who puts on a voice. Pretty sure this was intentional. His outbursts were hilarious. And his hair being larger than his helmet was funny. Chick stormtrooper was funny. Wiping the monster off with hyperspace was really funny.

Daisy Ridley's face carried the story for me. While I get the complaints Rey is a Mary Sue, but considering that's a criticism of science fiction it's got less bite when applied to space opera. It technology might as well be magic in a space opera. Her abilities are an illustration of story. Kylo can't beat her because she's strong with the Force AND also because he's not all the way evil, which is also why she doesn't get the opportunity to finish him off. I liked the quality of the fights, much more dynamic and gritty. I hate how antiseptic the classic fighting forms are.

Maybe it was my theater but the 3D was lacking. I felt they could have done more with the lightsabers and space ships darting throughout the frame. You'd think Mr. Lens Flares would pop off more laser beams, wouldn't you? Jesus Christ Carrie Fisher! I wish she had the bun hairstyle, except with the buns stuffed inside her mouth. Leia must be the general of obliterate vocal chords. Poe Dameron is still the dumbest fucking name in the STAR WARS galaxy and that's saying something. The thing I hated most, and I knew it was going to happen, was that Abrams fucking cast Greg Grunberg as Porkins. Goddammit, GG deserves better!

Shout out to the special cameo by Oliver Reed as Luke Skywalker at the end there.

Han's probably not dead. There was probably an empty fridge down there, which he will pop out of in episode IX when Carrie Fisher will be replaced by a CGI version that Harrison Ford's willing to kiss.
This post needs to be reported... for excessive awesomeness. A Moranis reference? Would read again.

I agree with you about 3-D. I'm going to see it again today because I'm a straight G and can do that, but this time I'll see it in Double-D. Also, Martini's and Cocaine Carrie >>>>>> Sober Carrie. She's capable of bringing the movie down to prequel levels with her acting.

Read interesting thing on Reddit. Ren kept hitting his side where he got shot to tap more into the dark side by way of pain. makes sense he would do that since he was severely injured.

Intersting. I just assumed he was losing feeling/blood and was trying to get it pumping

Plagueis knew Palpatine was training Maul.
He was even present when he was training many times over.

Maul wasn't being trained In full Sith mode either. He was expendable and used as a living weapon.

This is all covered in the Darth Plagueis novel.

another couple questions,

is new order post darkside? or just another group who follows the same philosophy as the darkside?

They are more like remnants of the Empire. The Empire had many Gran Moffs across the galaxy. They look to me like a well organized group post-empire probably located far way from the main battles who at the end decided to band together and carry on the empire legacy.

I hope there are bounty hunters in the next one.

Who are you talking too?

I thought that was pretty obvious. The first time he did it outdoors, they immediately panned to the blood dripping onto the snow. I'm assuming Driver did that to show just how damaged the character was.
