Classic 3p0 but didn't need a different colored arm that I see as toy placement. He could have said anything looking the exact same as he did in the final shot...and still had been classic 3p0.

I looked into that red arm, thinking they were playing fan service to some cartoon canon back story...and it's really just a "hey it's been some time, 3p0's old...we wanted to showcase that by having him wearing replacement limbs that didn't match the rest of his pieces in color..."

and then the last shot shows that they finally found him a gold arm...

yup! toy placement.
I had a couple of musings on the arm.

A couple things stood out to me. First, he actually physically hits R2-D2 and says, "Don't call me that!" Now, he verbally abused R2 all the time, but I can't recall having ever seen him (in the films or cartoons) actually physically strike R2. He always knew better. R2 is a baller, he's a bitch. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't recall it, and I just rewatched all the films in prep for TFA's opening. It took me back. I was like, "Shit, did C3PO grow some balls? Has he been in the trenches?" The other is that it might have been a way to indicate how on-the-ropes the resistance is. It is incredibly resource-deprived.

It's a little odd. It's almost like he's an avatar of Anakin, himself. Between Luke and Kylo I fully expect another Skywalker hand to go flying.

another complaint, which came from AngryJoe (v-blogger) was that it wouldn't be possible for the First Order to rise so quickly after the battle of endor. Well, all we have to do is look at our own world history to know that a lot happened between WWI and WW2 Germany, roughly around the same period of time.

I really don't get most of these complaints. I think it's just apprehension and a lack of trust, unless they see something explained they assume it won't or can't be. That it was overlooked.

Naw's he's always beating the shit out of R2. When R2 won't tell luke about the secret message, he slaps him around a few times in ANH.

I don't follow anything outside of the films but I'm curious who is considered the most powerful force user of all time and who is the best fighter in the canon?

It's a small deal dizzy. but it made zero sense and I give a shit.

Film's still great over all. It just had some stupid small things and some plot holes.

Well now that only movies and a select few other things are canon now, it's definitely Sidious/Rey

killed by...sidious

Yeah but in his sleep no?

I mean Sidious couldn't make people come to life or stop peeps from dying. So I'd say Sidious never reached that level/

Ah, okay, I figured I was forgetting it. I vaguely remember that old 80's cartoon series with R2 and C3PO. I think he beat the shit out of him then, too, now that you mention it. I don't think I've seen that since I was a kid.

Greatest Potential = Anakin Skywalker
Most Powerful (Force) = Dunno, lots of candidates: Luke, Vader, Valkorion, Revan, Yoda, Starkiller, etc.
Most Powerful (Power) = Darth Sidious
Greatest Warrior = Mace Windu

They showed that flashback when she picked up the lightsabre, looked like she got left on that planet when she was 7 or 8.
Ah, I missed that. So definitely not Luke's kid then.

YODA and YODA I reckon.

sidious could transfer consciousness in the EU, that got wiped tho. is it canon that plagueis might have created anakin? sidious was hidden in plain sight from all the masters also.
it is kind of a toss between them. maybe some old republic like exar kun , darth bane? did they wipe all that?

The only thing I really hated was the cinematography for the last scene, with a helicopter shot circling Rey and Luke in the wind. Just awful. Have some subtlety ffs Abrams. That scene should not have been a cliffhanger, should not have been shot that way and probably should have had a journey of more than 30 seconds - save it for film 8.

It was cool actually. Just too bad Walter Mitty did that already.

Thanks for clarifying my questions AD! As I expected, JJ will leave fans for a while discussing theories and going back n forth which is what stars was also meant to be anyway.

Rey, whose untrained and coming to even with ren (who's had amounts of training) has potential to surpass YODA.

Ok, since this isn't a no spoiler thread.

I plan on seeing again, hopefully it will be better.

I didn't like how snoke was cgi, kinda came off disneyish.....I also didn't like ren removing his masks, takes away his mystique.

It's kind of implied in the prequels that Plageius basically created Anakin, but not too implied.
