STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS Official Thread v.7 (Crosses $1 Billion Worldwide)

The conclusion derived from the evidence presented in the films is that Anakin is half midichlorian and half human. Midichlorians aren't mutually exclusive to Obi Wan's explanation. Midichlorians exist in living cells and allow beings to control the force. That's why Anakin is special. He's chock full of them, so he should be the best force user eva. And if Midichlorians just decided to stop doing anything the people who could use the force wouldn't be able to use it that well. The Midichlorians cut off Anakin's force supply the moment he needed it and super fueled Rey's force supply when she needed it.

As for JJ Abrams, of course the current timeline characters wouldn't know squat about Midichlorians. Most people in the galaxy don't even think Jedi existed and the force is a myth. All the people who had knowledge of the Midichlorians are dead.

Everything is in the movies. It doesn't require EU stuff or meta explanations. It all makes sense, don't fight it. Just let it in.

So why didn't Obi Wan or Yoda mention midichlorians in the OT? Because it's a cheap and easy plot device used to quickly explain that "Annie" is super powerful.

That sounds like PT-level ridiculousness.

Kylo is a jerk who killed han.

Yeah, that's basically the extent in which I view him. JJ's idea that Kylo killing Han automatically puts him in the same league as Vader is just laughable. Especially considering that right after, he jobs like a total bitch.

Why would they? They already knew Luke's dad was Anakin, the half man half midichlorian. The Jedi were an organization that took children and made them monkish police officers who sacrifice their emotions. They needed an exact way to measure potential. It's irresponsible to just guess if a child could be a jedi.

Sounds like you're racist against midichlorians.

lol imagine. Might be the biggest shitstorm in the history of fanboy shitstorms if that happened.

It's not that farfetched. She x10 the Jedi Luke ever was. Even with some training from Yoda Luke kind of looked like tard when he ran off to confront Vader. Literally not a single word of instruction has been given to her and she's already resisting mind reading, using force commands on Storm Troopers like its nothing, stealing lightsabers from dark lords like candy from a baby, and then using that same lightsaber to stomp a muddhole in that dark lord. At her rate of progression, by the time we see that end scene with her and Luke facing off, she's basically Prime Yoda.

When Obi Wan and Yoda were explaining the Force to Luke, if Midichlorians were really that important, you'd think they'd at least mention it. Maybe even test Luke for his count. But both Obi Wan and Yoda explain it as a mystical force that bindes everything together and is always there; can be felt, etc. Not some chemical in your cells that can be measured with a blood test.

At her rate of progression, by the end of VII, I'd say she's above prime Yoda. She looked more impressive in one hour than Yoda looked in 800 years.

Now I know why Luke started to tear up when he saw Rey. He knew he was fucked.

Explaining Midichlorians to Luke would be like explaining the technical details of a computer to someone who just wants to turn it on, open a browser, and type stuff in. Obi Wan and Yoda know he's got the right specifications. What Luke needs to learn is how to use it. Midichlorians are what allow creatures to access the force. They're not the force. Did anybody here watch the prequels? That's why it's completely plausible that the Midichlorians screwed Anakin.

I wouldn't be surprised if her Midichlorian count was over 30,000. Definitely over 9,000.

Yea it's strange that Kylo was bested with a lightsaber. He's been using it regularly. In this Star Wars iteration novices can pick up the weapon and be competitive. So why isn't Kylo better with it if he's experienced?

Well there are no more jedi, therefore no other lightsaber users aside from dark jedi which obviously he's not fighting against. So in terms of battle readiness he's basically using his lightsaber against defenseless people and soldiers wielding conventional weapons.

The one thing that threw me off was when the storm trooper guys used a bayonet lightsaber against Finn (when he had Luke's lightsaber) and he pretty much was toe to toe with him. I thought the light blade concept was only for jedi's.

It was more like an electro bayonet. Like the things Grievous' guards used. But that stormtrooper was awesome. It was like in Unicorn Gundam when the Byarlant custom shows up and just kills all the Zeon guys. The movie isn't about them, but they're the real MVPs.

This is how I was before I watched Star Wars

Im' glad I wasn't the only that thought there was a lot of rehashing from original. Disclosure: I'm not a adamant fan but still an appreciative and aware of the pop culture signficance, and I didn't really expect to have anything bad to say afterwards going into the movie but it didn't have much heft for me.

Well Disney owns the rights to it so, that may explain it. Then again Star Wars was always light on visceral violence. The action can be lifted from a pre rendered video game cut scene from a Stars Wars game of the hour and vice versa.

So the ones who didn't like it seemed very butthurt over it.

Some questions about the movie

Who is rey's parents? Luke? HS and leiah?

Is finn a jedi? Who is he related to?

Was an ok movie. The characters did really well. Could have had a better pacing or flow. Some things I would nitpick but it wouldnt make a difference.

Does anyone have answer to this?

Pumpkin head (maz) "knows the force" and has been around for at least a thousand years. She probably knows about midichlorians.
