This is an amazing review of the movie. They're spot on.
Or is this one spot on?

What happens if Mark Hamill dies before the next movie? How would they possibly work that into the story after so much buildup to finding Luke?

It's not like needed to physically grab it. He easily could have taken it from 30 feet away.I almost laughed when Rey held out the lightsaber...from like 30 feet away.
Had good trailers before the movie too. That Jungle Book movie looks good to me, loved it when I was a kid. Civil War looks good, X-Men, think we had a trailer for Independence Day as well.
They also played some animated commercial. It was a girl with a snowman that used to put on puppet shadow shows for her as a child. Then she would put the snowman in the fridge to preserve him. As she got older she forgot about him, then one day while busy at work, remembered the good ol' days and digs out the sad, neglected snowman.
He brightens up and puts on a show for her and her daughter with the theme of "Do what you love" or something like that.
Anyone else have that play at their showings? That got me right in the feels, I'm such a softie now in my old age
Then it went straight into the LucasFilm credit and started the movie.
I felt like Finn's personality was accelerated by his first real experiences interacting with non-brainwashed people. He became besties with Poe right off the bat. Immediately became attached like a puppy when Rae "looked at him like nobody else ever has". And after hanging out with Han for a while his penchant for quippy humor rubbed off. He was like a human emotion sponge once the suit came off.9/10 from me.
My immediate gripes being Finn going from PTSD robot to comedian far too quickly, and Kylo Ren going from a baddass to emo squash match towards the end.
Pretty much everything else was done well.
And it kills hype for future fights between the two, cause the protagonist has already won and is only gonna get more OP from here on. There is no suspense in future show downs, we're almost guaranteed to see Rey prevail.
How awesome would it be if it turned out that Snoke was just a proxy and Luke was really behind the First Order?

I gave it a 1, because 0 wasn't available. I was really let down by how bad and cliche the whole thing was. I couldn't stand Finn, I wanted some star wars adventure with some interesting plot, and I hoped to see Han and Luke and Leia in a better place than a universe where literally nothing but bad shit has happened for 100s of years. It was depressing...I liked Rey, but all the other characters were lame. The Empire sucked, the sith guy was annoying, the storyline with Han and Leia and the stupid sith son that turned to the dark side. Dear god, how many times are they just going to do the same storyline? Blow up another death star thing, sure why not? Give literally anybody/everybody a chance to fight with lightsabres. So even with the insight of Yoda, Ben, and Anakin, Luke wasn't even able to train one jedi without them turning to the dark side? Can we just call it the emo side? Cause that sith guy was pouting like a little emo kid, and he kinda looked like all emo with his long black hair and his black on black armor, his wannabe darth helmet, he even had the crushed vader helm under his pillow...back to Han, I will say it was nice to see him and Chewie for a few, but you knew as soon as he saw his son he was going to get lightshanked...
What redeeming quality did the movie have? None that I can see. I never was even slightly interested in the story, I didn't care if they blew up the death star thing or just failed and were obliterated. I was rooting for all said parties, except maybe Rey, to die of lightsabre wounds, and I just wanted the clunky thing to be over.
Maybe I am wrong, but I swear some of the Star Wars games had better storylines than these movies they keep making. It looked bland, and had a weak story start to finish. Why did the Star Wars franchise make all the Jedi into such little bitches anyway? I am talking back to the movies 1-3 where they made them out to basically be clowns with lightsabres as they were all hunted down by clones...these same clones and troopers aren't even able to shoot in a straight line. It isn't 1980 anymore, it is just cliche crap and not cute. 0/10 The Space Opera of Fin the Emo Stormtrooper meets emo jedi with emo traitor apprentice.
I want my stormtroopers to evil, heartless bastards. I don't care if they have 100 quadrillion stormtroopers, I want them to all be evil, heartless and mindless drones of the empire. I want my jedi to not all be crybaby bitches.
How much better would it have been if we had a more civil galaxy where Han and Luke and friends were doing well, living good, and a few of the billion of jedis in the galaxy came out to be trained by Luke and etc etc...and then make some kind of interesting war with conflict and plot and twists. No death stars. No stupid jedi turning into sith and joining the empire, no more rehashing the old fucking movies! /rant off

Snoke is Darth Plageuis, I'm 90% sure.
I think you're wrong. First of all, any time the fans are 90% sure of a twist, the film-makers usually end up going in a different direction.
Plus they want to distance themselves from the prequels, and that's the only place where Plagueis is mentioned.
And if he is Plagueis, then why would he sit idly by in the shadows watching Palpatine take over the galaxy? He would've gotten revenge on Palpy. Dark side masters are all about power, revenge, aggression. Doesn't seem like the dude could wait 80 years to have his vengeance.
I dunno about that. I think they can easily build Kylo back up by having him destroy someone important in the next movie. Maybe have something like in Empire where Rey leaves her training early and attempts to fight a fully-trained Ren who nearly destroys her. They could have Luke save her and die in the process so Ren gets the rub of killing Luke and leaving Rey almost dead..
Ren wasn't fully trained but he was trained. Not only by Luke, but by Snoke too. If he completes his training he will get better but he's not going to make a huge leap forward.
Rey on the other hand is 100% untrained and still ran a train on Ren. If she starts training and makes those monumental beginner gains then there's no way for Ren to catch up. Ren will never beat or even be a threat to Rey ever again. Miss Mary Sue is OP as hell.
So Rian Johnson has the next one. Do we know who's doing the one after that?
