Star Wars Megathread

She's not wrong. Phantom Menace was my least favorite Star Wars movie Pre-Disney. Completely unnecessary story that could have been spent getting us into the Clone Wars. Honestly the PT could have started with AOTC and had an entire movie on the Clone Wars between that and ROTS.

I got love for some of your posts... but saying: "completely un-necessary story?"
Teh fook movie were you watching?

There is an entire movie about the clone wars. It's the movie that started off the series and it's fantastic.

I know what you're saying... but you got to admit that you'd really have to be twisted to try & make that compaison on a real level yeah?

Phantom Menace....damn that's a tough one. saw ESB on HBO very young and RoTJ in theaters, then got back in the SW game when the most unlikely of people introduced me to the EU (and Thrawn...hence name) as a teenager.

I was fucking hyped when it came out...yet for every awesome moment there was shit. You had the Darth Maul then you had Jar Jar, shit dialoge then awesome sequences, great performances then WTF are you saying shit... In hindsight its #2 on the PT for me...mostly due to how hyped I was for it.

Of course I want her to have her own mind, as well as the person who glorified her comments by "name dropping" her... without pointing out that her opinion counts for exactly no more or less than any of ours. (celeb quotes don't work in a space in which all are equal.)

It's no different than I want for any of you misguided resistant douche bags ... but you don't need to be going around twisting reality about another human being while telling your lies do you? You've been happy enough to spout your bullshit all these years without blaming it on Marcia Lucas yeah? So why the change now?

<Dany07>

Come on guyz... that's just good fun yeah?
Don't hate the player... hate the game... it's the resistance that started this bullshit anywayz.

...and I might add... is continuing it by fucking with me.

hope i didn't hurt your feelings.

Who wants to pay money to see Star Wars in the theater after their last 3 films were The Rise of Skywalker, Solo, and The Last Jedi the 3 worst movies in the history of the franchise?
l@nd0
Answer: "Over half of the fan base disagrees with your assessment and will be there."

I'll be snagging a center seat in a fooking Dolby theater on opening night personally if they rock up with a new Star Wars.

hope i didn't hurt your feelings.
No you destroyed the last "feeling" I might ever have about you a long time ago.

You know what you did. o_O

She's also spot on about Kathleen Kennedy. She doesn't get Star Wars and neither did JJ or Rian. The only one's at LF that do are Dave Filoni and John Favreau. Kennedy's MO is to pump out as much content as possible to make money without regards to quality. There's a reason why she's had to fire so many directors, it's because she puts no thought or care into her decisions because she doesn't give a shit about the product itself, just how much she can milk it. That's why the movie side is dead in the water currently. Who wants to pay money to see Star Wars in the theater after their last 3 films were The Rise of Skywalker, Solo, and The Last Jedi the 3 worst movies in the history of the franchise?

I think the reality with Kennedy is simply that she's always been someone who worked on the money/organisational side of the business, basically smoothing out the business details for people like Lucas and Speilberg and was probably very good at her job judging by how long they stuck with her. She didnt really have any previous history of making creative decisions and so when shifted intot hat era she became your typical meddling exec thinking focus groups and pie charts could make for a good film.

The much bigger issue though I suspect was hiring Abrams and I wouldnt be supprised if that was over her head, probably came from Disney directly. I can kind of see why they did it, they'd just paid 4 billion for Starwars so they looked to Abrams Trek and thought "thats a safe way to get a return fast". The problem is I don't think they looked hard enough, Abrams style with Trek got a positive short term reaction via creating a rather empty nostalgia thrill ride but audiences were already souring on it by the second film and exactly the same happened with SW, he gave them a cheap nostalgia return in the short term but doomed the franchise in the long term, at least in terms of blockbuster films.

Disney/Lucasfilm needed to show more balls the way Marvel have in seriously investing time in building their franchise and treating the audience well. I think you can see with Rogue One and the Madorian its not THAT hard to make good Starwars the fans like that still makes a lot of money. All it takes it hiring talented people who like Starwars not hacks like Abrams looking for new fooder to feed into their cheap formula.

Watched first 4 eps of Star Wars Visions Japanese cartoon shorts (like 18 min each) and in Japanese with English subs. Mostly shitty. The first one, The Duel was the better of the 4. Red Sith umbrella light saber?

The Boba Fett/rock band one sucked, as did the Twins one.

Within the eps, no mention if canon or not. Curious how much freedom the Japanese cartoon makers had and if any of this stuff ties into normal Star Wars stuff.

Visions episode one was bad ass.

episode two was fun.

Waiting to watch Visions this weekend. Seems like they should just stick to an animated universe. Their hit rate seems better than the movies.

I enjoyed the animated stuff so far but this Visions, I mostly skipped through the first and couldnt go past 1/3 of 2nd. No Star wars feeling. And I find it just so dull and bland storywise, all just make-up and design will little to no spirit.

I don’t know who they could have gotten to direct the new movies that would have succeeded. Maybe Joe Johnston but they would never trust him enough. He would try to recapture the feel of the originals tho.

SW Visions Ep 5 The Ninth Jedi was among the better of the first 5 episodes, but still kinda meh.
