SSF's new tv show

It looks good. Of course you can only tell so much from a trailer, but the guys on board with the interviews don't seem like meatheads. The editing is pretty tight. If I am going to give one criticism it would be the lighting. Some of the shots appear to be dark, and some of the shots are throwing off glare from the background or overhead lights.

I'd grab a beer and a seat on the couch to give it a shot. I was trying to catch the name of that former IBO welterweight boxing champ. Maybe I'll watch it again. Anyways, best of luck.

*cries*

I remember when Ron was but a wee little whitebelt here before going platnium, or maybe u were always plat... i forget. XD

will have to watch at home, cant plug the earphones in at work.

looks good ron...ahha..

you should have mini documentarys on how each of your sponsored fighters train or somethin'...ahha. just a suggestion (Ufc access...lol)

I gotta say I found the interview editing for 'The Scorpion' very annoying. You are having the interview and the camera angle seems to flick back and forwards too fast and too often. It is a distraction from what he is saying.

On a plus note....I got that hoodie!!!!:icon_chee

agreed-- too many camera angle changes. Any of the angles are fine, but the rate at which it's changing is distracting during the intro and the opening comments from Karl. The pace is much more suitable during your interview, and the training footage.

the transition graphic in the beginning intro is excessively used-- between every sentence is a bit much, using that once at the beginning and end would've been fine.

wow. it's been years since I took broadcast journalism, seems some of it actually stuck, lol.

these are minor editing gripes, though-- I don't want to sound as though the overall package wasn't good, because it was. Were it available in my market, I'd watch it.

I dig it. :)

switching up the angles that quickly lends itself well in action segments, but it's distracting during the commentary. Or maybe my ADD is just in full bloom this morning? :/

the content itself is really nice.

Looks good - good production value...

It's going to only be about SSF fighters?

Sorry to come out swinging with the negatives but its what you really want to know so you can improve the product. In my opinion the stiff sounding host has a horrible presentation, the flashy supers are distracting, the jumping logo actually prevents you from focusing on the show's title, and the varying camera angles during interviews are disorienting. I can't tell you what to do about the host but since I work in television I do have suggestions for everything else.

First, don't shoot the host so loosely if he's sitting. Tighten the shot so it ends at mid-chest and replace the bouncing graphic beside him with a sharper looking over the shoulder (OTS) graphic like you'd see in a newscast.

Replace the jittery supers with solid still supers with a select number of colors so the viewer can glance at the information on them without being distracted from what's happening on camera. Also, be sure to use a simple font that's easy to read like Arial Black, Franklin Gothic Heavy, or Impact.

When shooting an interview, use just one camera on the interview subject. Lock down that shot and never leave it unless you're cutting away to appropriately referenced B-roll (training, workout routines, etc. -- whatever the interview subject is talking about). Also, be sure to use lighting in front of and behind the interview subject so the camera can see them and so they aren't swallowed by the shadows.

I'd also recommend adding a constant bug during programming so viewers will know what they're watching. If the station already runs a bug over programming, place yours in the opposite lower corner.

I hope this helps gives you some ideas. Let me know if I can be any further help.

Ron,

Congrats!! Wow! I'm really impressed. I agree with the camera angle switches.

I thought you were excellent on camera - very relaxed and well spoken.

Keep up the great work! AWESOME idea!!

Nice Ron! What are you looking to air this on? Will you do web broadcasts? Where will your guys be fighting in the shows?

The local station C-tv in Clarksville TN is producing it and I am not sure who is syndicating it. but it's will air to 10 million households to start and within 6 months they think it will be at 50 million homes.

We will be taping at all the shows we fight in (KY, LA, TX, IL, OK, VA..).

Congratulations! I wish we could do something like that on MyNetwork. Althouth, the Sunshine Network does play the occasional local fights (months after they've happened).

I can give you the info for my guys at the local tv stations and you can pass it on to your local station and see if they will carry it.

It's gonna be different then Tapout and the UFC's show. We want to have fun with the guys and also see the real and gritty world of MMA is. It's not all glamor and fans. You will see us at fights tracking down promoters so we can get paid and other crap fighters have to deal with before even hitting the cage and after.

My people will never go for any local programming created in our community because we're owned and operated by Fox (News Corp).

On a side note, will the SSF show be put on YouTube or anywhere else online?
