It seems that because they are not mutually exclusive, you are conflating the larger and later Crossfire Hurricane investigation with US intel continuing to investigate a guy who the FBI had interviewed because of disturbing things they caught on wire taps of Russian intel agents in 2013, and the concern that someone that Russian intel viewed as a greedy idiot was being manipulated by the Kremlin while advising a US presidential candidate.
