Spike is functionalized thiamin molecule that primarily causes a physiological reaction similar to amphetamine-class compounds. While stimulatory in nature, it works via a different pathway that adrenalinergic drugs such as albuterol and ephedrine. Being in this class, it isn't really a true "weight loss" compound. Non-pharmacologically, I would put Spike in a category that is somewhere between Ritalin and methamphetamine.
