I dont think its a huge loss either but the fact that PBC was dropped doesnt make it look good for another networks considering a network a deal with PBCNot a big loss imo... I rarely watch Spike anymore. I can't remember what PBC fights they had on there. I think they had Algieri vs. Khan, but I can't remember what others they had.
Glad you brought that up cause I forgot about all that, they are going to revamp their image and demographic target next year, and dont forget Viacom also owns Showtime who have strong ties with PBC and HaymonSpike spokesman David Schwarz disputed the portion of the ESPN.com story that stated Spike executives were unhappy with the quality of fights PBC offered as part of the series. “Spike and the PBC have enjoyed a very successful relationship with great fights, featuring high production values,” Schwarz said in a statement released to boxingscene.com
“The network was very satisfied with the quality of fights that produced strong ratings and many memorable moments. Any inference to the contrary is inaccurate. Now that our 2-year deal is complete, we are having ongoing discussions to potentially air future events that make sense for both parties.”
Schwarz also said the network wants to televise more Bellator MMA cards. Bellator is owned by Viacom, also Spike’s parent company. “We have a great relationship and running dialogue with Al and the PBC,” Schwarz told ESPN.com. “
"Our focus is on Bellator right now, but if the right fight arises we are all ears.” Spike soon will be renamed The Paramount Network as part of a rebranding initiative by Viacom and will focus more on scripted entertainment than in the past.
**** Looks like some misleading information from the espn article!!!

well it does, but its not for the causal. casuals love drama. that's why diaz Mcgregor makes money, why mayweather makes money , etc."
The Contender, it started on NBC on Primetime, but only lasted 1 season there because of bad ratings. They moved to ESPN for like 3 more seasons and it was axed.
The show was shit because the fights were all edited with music. It started the same time as TUF 1 started and Dana was poking fun at that show
The way Netflix is throwing around money for new content and talent its only a matter of time before they get into sports.Glad you brought that up cause I forgot about all that, they are going to revamp their image and demographic target next year, and dont forget Viacom also owns Showtime who have strong ties with PBC and Haymon
Cable tv is going through a rough time right now (eventually becoming obsolete) because of Netflix and stand alone premium channels that offered through streaming, infact PBC and Showtime boxing being offered for a low monthly subscription isnt a far fetched idea.
Is Spike still something people watch?
I always find Queen B's posts so distasteful because he almost seems like he is rubbing his hands together giddily and is so happy when he posts negative things about boxing tv ratings or television deals, especially if they concern the PBC.
Its not negativity. I just posted facts in this thread.I always find Queen B's posts so distasteful because he almost seems like he is rubbing his hands together giddily and is so happy when he posts negative things about boxing tv ratings or television deals, especially if they concern the PBC.
http://ucnlive.com/breakfast-roosevelt-hotel-ms-duva/‘I’m not afraid Al (Haymon) will succeed. I’m afraid he will fail.’ If he succeeded and the world decided boxing was the number two sport in America – I would only profit from that. The fear was that he would fail and the networks would lose interest and sadly that is exactly what happened.
Supposedly they were in serious talks about distributing the Pacquiao vs Bradley 3 PPV.The way Netflix is throwing around money for new content and talent its only a matter of time before they get into sports.
Netflix and Youtube seem perfect for boxing. Cant wait to eventually a promotion tries this exclusively.
Dude all you do is complain about cards, rejoice at poor viewing figures and practically gave every card that underperformed in pbc a standing ovation, you're very transparent.Supposedly they were in serious talks about distributing the Pacquiao vs Bradley 3 PPV.
However they dont do any live regular shows as far as I know.
Wow thats promising. Live streaming shouldn't be that hard for them especially since YouTubes been doing it easily for a while.Supposedly they were in serious talks about distributing the Pacquiao vs Bradley 3 PPV.

PBC had some good fights, but lots of terrible decisions. None of us have to like it, but we have no choice but to support it and cheer for its success, because it is in a position to carry the sport.
Here's a quote from Kathy Duva this morning.
If you dont know, Kathy Duva got a paid network deal with NBCSN and was building up people like Kovalev in her shows. PBC came along and NBCSN dumped her shows. Now it sounds like shes not even sure NBCSN will renew her network deal with them because of their recent bad experience with boxing.
