Movies SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY (New Suit Revealed, post #117; Hulk and Scorpion to Appear, post #111)

I’m wondering if The Punisher will be in the whole film or just a short part?

Probably be off screen violence... boo

Daredevil's confirmed to be in this as well. Which makes sense given Matt was Peter's lawyer in NWH. But it's still too many characters.

Also, how is there a Madame Hydra after Hydra itself was wiped out in AoS? Yes, I know, cut off one head etc. But they haven't been active in the MCU for almost ten years.

It all depends on if they count AoS as canon. There's talks of LMDs in Vision Quest, but really nothing outside of any other AoS references.

Robbie Reyes had the Darkhold with him and I guess it's gone now lol

Fair point. To quote Marvel Jesus himself,

"All these Time Lines get so confusing!"

I believe the last official sighting of Hydra was in the first Ant Man movie, ten years ago.

I've always had a soft spot for Hydra, in no small part because Winter Soldier is my favourite MCU film. But if they're bringing them back, give us either the OG - Weaving isn't interested but Marquand is available - or better yet, do the Captain Hydra storyline from 2016.

I would be down for any of that. The Rise of Hydra was the best AoS arc in the show and they pulled it off wonderfully with Theta Protocol tying into AoU.

I would love to see Evans pull off a heel Cap.

Agreed. An adaption of Secret Empire would be awesome if done right.

I've no doubt Evan would kill it as Hydra Cap.

This probably seems little in the grand scheme of things, but Daredevil and Punisher being in this makes me more hopeful for the next season of Daredevil. I really hope there's some sort of story for Spiderman and Wilson Fisk.

Mark Ruffalo Returning as Hulk in SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY; Michael Mando Returning as Well to Play Scorpion

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has found a smashing star to join Tom Holland in the Sony/Marvel movie sequel.

Mark Ruffalo is returning to reprise the role of Bruce Banner, aka The Hulk, in the feature, which comes 14 years after the actor joined the MCU in The Avengers. The move had been rumored for a while but only firmed up as the script came together and as production gears up for beginning of production this month in England.

At the same time, Michael Mando, known for his work on Better Call Saul, is returning to reprise the role of the Scorpion, the villain character whom he first played in Spider-Man: Homecoming, the 2017 feature that kicked off the Holland-centric Spider-Man movies.

Holland’s Spider-Man films have always paired him with a more seasoned actor, such as Robert Downey Jr. (Spider-Man: Homecoming), Samuel L Jackson (Spider-Man: Far From Home) and Benedict Cumberbatch (Spider-Man: No Way Home), playing key characters Iron Man, Nick Fury and Doctor Strange, respectively. (The movies invoke the tone of classic Marvel comic Marvel Team-Up, a series from the 1970s and 1980s that featured Spider-Man partnering with another hero for an escapade.)

Brand New Day, however, is stacking the deck. Jon Bernthal is also on the call sheet to reprise his role of the vigilante known as the Punisher. It’s the character’s first big-screen appearance in the MCU and first movie appearance in general since 2008 action movie Punisher: War Zone, in which the late Ray Stevenson played the role.

The plot details are being kept under the vest, but you can bet that, in the mighty Marvel manner, Spider-Man, Punisher and Hulk will all fight one another before figuring out who the real bad guys are.

Only thing I'm not massively psyched about is the Hulk being in the film. Every other announcement sounds great though!

i guess everyone & their mother’s mother is gonna be crammed into this one
