Spent 6 months in the worst jail in Thailand. AMA

Every day yeah. We would train in room.

I was the most experienced fighter there so they wanted to learn from me. We'd do an hour of Thai boxing, an hour of English and then figure out our mischief for the night

Did you get to train. Maybe do some light sparring with the other inmates or something

There was a German guy who was a :eek::eek::eek: and he got fucked up every night by them. Like badly. Fairly certain he's dead now.

Only he and I that I saw
Holy shite! Midnight Express-esque

If you act respectful and aren’t a :eek::eek::eek: is it possible to be left alone?

How did you end up there? Did you talk shit about the king?
First thing I noticed from the short trip from Chiang Mai airport to my hotel was how many gigantic pictures there of him. I didn't know it was a thing at all.

First week I slept like the entirety. Anytime anyone woke me or tried step over my head (cannot do inThai culture) I'd make a fight. From there I was left alone

Never could fap, there's no privacy ever.

That sounds fucking awful. Especially at the start when you don't know anyone in there, time must have went so slow at the beginning. Hey what about having to relieve yourself, did you go 6 months of nofap or was there a system in place? Serious question lol.

Did anyone ever try to stop that? I can imagine seeing enough of that, seeing people in pain all the time is kind of disgusting regardless of what the guy did.

They would shoot you for that.

I hit a guy a taxi driver who took my girlfriends wallet after a long altercation in lat prao ( out skirt area of Bangkok) cops came, two of them acting really rough so I hit him too.

Got my ass beat by 5 cops after the fact, wound up in a police station in klong Toei. Remanded and served 6 months of a 2 year sentence

All I'm saying is you're lucky you didn't end up dead.

Back in 2013, an American guy literally got dismembered on the street by a taxi driver because he threw a cup at the guy over an argument for a $1.60 fare.

Good to see you're out and sane.

What's the go with getting pardons or sentence reductions for fighting/winning thai boxing matches? Is that just a media piece or a real thing?

Maybe youve answered this but are you a white dude?

Self explanatory, Bang Kwang is considered to be one of the top 5 worst prisons in the world and the worst in South East Asia.

Not proud of it, but happy to answer questions. I fucked up, did my time. So if you want to shit on me feel free, but just make sure you've never done something stupid in your life.
Were drugs and corruption rampant in that prison?

Let me guess

* Cockroaches everywhere, probably hundreds in the room that you are in while you sleep.
* 30 other men in the same room.
* No beds, only allowed to sleep on the concrete floor.
* Drugs use (needles) are incredibly high. You are more likely to die from aids than to live to be 50 in there.
* No doctors or medicine. You get sick? LOL
* You can choose between rotten rice or rotten fish heads.

Thanks for the answer. There have been some guys here who would post about being in prison or getting in prison and they usually wouldn't tell why. It seems you just snapped, it could happen to anyone.
Even after spending so much time in prison you don't seem bitter about Thailand or Thais. Respect.

There's no needles whatsoever. Didn't see a single one.

Mostly everything else is accurate yes

I was drinking way too much then. It's normal in a boxing camp. I was hammered, angry and frightened

Made a mistake in a country where you really can't and I paid the price. I am horrifically ashamed of my behavior but gotta own it

As a foreigner it's basically illegal to mention him

First thing I noticed from the short trip from Chiang Mai airport to my hotel was how many gigantic pictures there of him. I didn't know it was a thing at all.

My kids are here, I'd die before leaving them for even a week.

Not a chance in hell I'd ever go. If they made me leave I'd be sneaking right back in. My kids are my life

Not anymore. People are getting very open about talking about it. I went to watch Tenet at Terminal21 last week and half the audience didn't even stand for the King's anthem.

Lese Majesty is still a law to be taken seriously, but the culture around it has dramatically changed.
