I have a particular position I was looking at and hoping for some suggestions on. Im looking more for no gi but if you have a gi move feel free to throw it in.

The position is when you have a classic side mount with a cross face/underhook. Now most guys that have a bit of training will try and frame by putting a forearm on your neck and the other on hip. From that position you can hip escpape, get an underhook, go to your knees etc. I dont really have a problem dealin with that defense and have plenty of setups that lead to a submission or mount. Now the problem...this usually occurs in no-gi and usually occurs with stronger guys who like to use expolsive movements/bridges/escapes as opposed to your typical bjj escapes. These guys have started to take the arm closest to me(the one normally used to fram against the hip) and slide it underneath me down by their own hip. From here they usually try the backdoor escapes by bridging and or pushing me up over their head and gettign into a scramble. Now if all I want to do is hold positiong I can usually hold side mount as long as I have a far side underhook. The problem is I dont train to hold people down and whenever I open up enough space to work for a submission they use that space to escape. same goes for trying to get mount most of the time. I know this position sets them up for jeff monson/69 choke but i havent had a alot of sucess with it. Other than moving to n/s im running low on options from here. Im pretty good at getting head and arm chokes off the scramble would prefer to leave that as a last resort if I have lost position and they are getting up. Any input on strategy, improving position, or submissions from here would be appreciated

thx

i know you said you didnt like N/s but thats where id bg from there, even if you use it to switch to the other side.
youve got more than just the monson choke from n/s, especially the kimura with them on their side.

if you really hate n/s this much id start setting up the far side armbar if they are paying so much attention to their near arm. also the inverted arm bar on the far side, especially if they extend their arms.

its also not to difficult to hit a reverse triangle if they are isolating one of their own arms for you, from which you can choke, arm bar or kimura.

finally id also consider trapping their far arm with your head and jumping over for a head/arm triangle.
