South Korea, Japan balk at admitting Syrian refugees, “prefer to protect our women"

This is what a common sense immigration policy looks like, can't believe that liberals argue that refugees and third world immigrants are good for the economy or commit less crime.

"South Korea and Japan have been reluctant to take in refugees from Syria.

The United States admitted more than 10,000 Syrian refugees on former President Barack Obama’s watch.

Since 1994, 1,144 Syrians have requested asylum in South Korea, but refugee status has been granted to only three, government figures show.

As of October 2016, Japan had taken in just six Syrian refugees. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe told reporters in 2015 that the country needed to “look after its own.”

“Both Japan and South Korea are relatively wealthy societies that could afford to provide resettlement assistance to refugees,” said Phil Robertson, deputy director of Human Rights Watch’s Asia division. “There is a reluctance to have refugees become a part of that society.”

Ahmed Lababidi, a 23-year-old Syrian who lives on South Korea’s Jeju Island, an hour flight south of Seoul, was rejected for asylum. He told VOA News that the local immigration office informed him that fleeing war is not grounds by itself for refugee status in South Korea.

“They just say you are not a refugee,” he said the official told him. “Because it’s just war, you can stay here, but not as a refugee.”

Rights groups have accused South Korea of not fulfilling its commitment as a signatory of the United Nations Convention relating to the Status of Refugees, a treaty that defines who is a refugee and what responsibilities a host nation has in providing for that individual.

Robertson said South Korea’s humanitarian visas are an “artificial category” that “gives less rights” to asylum seekers, noting that Japan, too, has come under similar criticism in regard to its refugee policy.

An official at South Korea’s Ministry of Justice, who asked not to be named per office rules, said all asylum applications are “evaluated fairly” and consideration is given based on the circumstances in their home country as well as evidence of persecution.

Robertson said that South Korea’s policies toward Syrian or other asylum seekers stand in stark contrast to its generous resettlement program for North Korean defectors. He said it is hypocritical for Seoul to call on other nations to protect North Korean escapees when it does not offer the same treatment to refugees within its own borders.

South Korea’s Ministry of Justice confirmed on Feb. 2 that “civil war is not sufficient grounds for granting refugee status,” The Korea Observer reported.

A ministry official said Seoul is also concerned of the risk of sexual assaults which could occur should any migrants be allowed in.

“Judging by what we see in Europe, we would prefer to protect our women, rather than potentially place them at risk,” the official said." http://www.worldtribune.com/south-korea-japan-balk-at-admitting-syrian-refugees/

France, Germany and Sweden can learn a lot from Japan and Korea.

Smart countries. The recognize the "refugees", as the savages they are.

pretty much

So countries that dont give white people citizenship is what we should model after?

I'm going to need to see a better source. I can't find anything about this "ministry official" and their comments about protecting their women anywhere other than this WorldTribune site, Stormfront and other such far right blogs none of which cite any sources for these comments.

Had to look up this "WorldTribune" site as well since I've never heard of it, but found this interesting:
Probably the only thread of his I posted in was exactly like this, IIRC. Shoddy right wing fake news source and then he has the nerve to call people an idiot while spouting out unsubstantiated claims.

Whenever some foreign leaders "say" a specific right wing talking point, it is likely a fabrication, just like Putin's quotes about killing terrorists and bashing immigrants. They're projecting their thoughts into fake quotes, and I would not be surprised if this was another example.

Are they worried about rape or just horney asain vag getting busted open by non-tiny asain dicks?

Asian countries have plenty of cultural problems. But at least their conservatism insulates them against this particular issue.

Peterson made a great point that most societies around the world are conservative because conservatism is the best way for a culture to preserve itself through time. But conservative societies suck at the same time, wouldn't want to live in one. So it's important to be very stubborn about free speech, secularism, equality of opportunity, the positive aspects of the Judeo-Christian values, etc, because a liberal culture is inherently more fragile in keeping itself alive. We don't even know what Europe will be like in 100 years.

Ya ever listen to Frank Zappa's "Catholic Girls" ?

Thats pure genius logic dude. Lets import a bunch of uneducated barbarians that we have made war on for generations, that hate us ,hate our societies and have no plans on joining those societies ..... What could go wrong?

What about a study on over population, jobs, and economic impact.

This is when you know this refugee thing stinks. There is no logic, not studies. Just a free for all.
These refugees are being strategically placed around the world.

This is an invasion.

Sounds like more countries need to take after South Korea and Japan.

the safety and protection of your own citizens>>>>refugees.

/Thread.

A government's primary responsibility is the protection of it's own citizens. Everyone else takes second place.

Doesn't Japan need the help with their population plunging? Those ladies are not going to self pregger themselves.

See theres where we will disagree. I dont think its some evil Illuminati plot by liberals or whatever I think its just the consequences of piss poor mid east policy since the great war. Combine that with school telling kids all cultures are equal for 40 years and if you say anything about anyone you are a racist and the fact that in the west most people tend to get along and it creates this thing where people are blind to self preservation or feel icky saying it so rather than go against years of training and say hey this group of people is fucked up they instead stick to the script and berate you if you dare notice it.

Its insane.

What you are saying about the schools, is the anesthetic given prior to invasive surgery.

It seems like an easy enough problem to solve though. I mean theyd have to have a grown up talk as a nation but its doable.

No dude its not part of some greater plot.

They say the road to hell is paved with good intentions for a reason.

People always try to correct horrible things that happen by going overboard with things. Crazy gun control after a shooting , the tsa after 911 or because america has an ugly past with racism and prejudice we reshaped our culture so no one is allowed to feel that way ..... Creating this issue with islam where even though they do cray shit because of their religion we arent allowed to talk about it . Thats why the people who shoot and run people over get the sympathy after an attack and those outraged at the killers are the bad guys.

The world isnt some giant conspiracy its just cause and effect with a buncha greedy cock suckers in the middle trying to get rich off the ebb and flow

I disagree that it is a disorganized chaotic mess, although there is certainly some amount of it. I think it looks more chaotic only on the surface, but it is not some big secret that 'diversification' is a big part of what the managers of the empire are pushing and this started quite some time ago (many decades). There is a high level of synchronization as well, which betrays a level of coordination.

So everything is aligning with the exact politics of those at the top. Including the anesthetic being applied, and the surgery. It's a package deal.

I do agree that there are a lot of well intentioned people who just go along with whatever it is they feel, or a people just doing their jobs. It's moreso at the higher level that things are less chaotic.
