According to Dan Rafael, there is HBO has shown little interest in showing boxing with its budget cuts.

Execs said were most likely not willing to show Cotto on free tv, even after drawing almost a million viewers.

I personally would have no reason to have an HBO subscription if they drop boxing. I like their original series sometimes but boxing is the only reason I pay for HBO.

Depending on the fall out, this could be a positive thing though. HBO has not exactly helped in terms of the promotional division we've seen in boxing over the past few years.

Floyd retired, Pac is nearing the finish line too. They have no one aside from Canelo that fans really need to see. Canelo is a PPV star but has no attractive opponents.

I don't see anything about this on ESPN. I get the idea of not showing Cotto on regular HBO. He's HBOs one PPV guy aside form Canelo.

That's the reason i was optimistic about the possibility of GGG-Canelo happening in the near future. That's the biggest money fight for Canelo too .

There are people who subscribe to HBO just for Game of Thrones.

I really do hope Bud signs with Haymon and leaves Arum out of business

Not happening any time soon.

Golden Boy just signed a multi-year campaign with Tecate and other sponsors to get Canelo to appeal to USA fans.

GOT is over in what, 2 years? There's only 2 books left in the series and the show has already passed the books.

One of my few uses for HBO would be gone if they gave up on Boxing.

It's Boxing and GOT and that's basically it

There's better TV elsewhere.

Queen is lying like usual

HBO is not cutting boxing but their budget for HBO boxing is less than the years before. Also new HBO sports president Peter Neilson is making things more difficult than usual.

I think it's about time this guy got the axe. Boxing on HBO isn't going anywhere.

Good

I cant stand listening to Lampley deep throating GBP and TR fighters while speaking down on Al Haymon fighters

is there a network that doesnt have PBC boxing? hopefully they would be interested in acquiring and showing Haymon how it should be done

Where is the link? MODS ????

You very clearly have an agenda, why don't you just walk on down the street?

This seems like a lot of energy to put into being a shit disturber on the internet.

They are refusing Lomachenko/Walters and Cotto/Chaves. I never said they are scrapping boxing for good. I said it sounds like they are phasing them out.

Cotto was supposed to fight Chaves? I couldn't blame HBO for not wanting to waste air time with that.

Thread title...

Sounds like HBO is scrubbing out boxing

I guess every boxing forum needs a chicken little to keep screaming about the sky falling but it really is getting old.

Sounds like? Now? I thought it was pretty well know when, you know, they originally cut the budget.
