Ariel keeps saying this and I'm watching The MMA Beat right now(great show) and Chuck Mindenhall is echoing it. They keep saying how the fighters should see the $4 Billion and see their value and wonder where their cut of that is. Or saying how fighter pay should go up because of the value of the company. The $4 billion isn't just free cash coming into the company. It's money going straight to the Fertitas(and Dana) to buy the rights to it. When the Clippers were purchased for $2 Billion then Blake Griffin wasn't wondering why he wasn't making $500 million off of that because that isn't how he gets paid.

When the fighter's ears should perk up is when the Fox deal ends. It seems like it has been pretty successful for Fox. It also seems as though ESPN is starting to become really friendly to the UFC again(similar to how they were when the Spike deal was ending). If they end up doubling or tripling the Fox deal then that is when the should be wondering about their cut. I also think that is where a lot of the value of the UFC is coming from. I believe they plan on re-upping for a lot and that is also where pro sports athletes really make their money. There was a big boom in contracts in the NBA this off season because a new tv deal(9 years $24 billion) is going into effect. That is straight revenue. Selling the company doesn't put any money into it.

Blake Griffin didnt complain cause he pets payed millions.
the bench players of the clippers make more than many "stars" of the UFC

Ariel is a bawl baby joke with an axe to grind. That fool lost all credibility when he got "wobbly" and bawled over losing his credentials.

The NBA is giving "stiffs" 15 million dollar a year contracts.

They won't get shit until they unionize. No employer, in any business, gives the employees more just for the hell of it. You pay more when you risk losing your talent to other businesses, and not a second sooner.

I understand where Ariel is coming from and anyone who follows the sport closely and understand how it works also must know that the UFC is the definition of slavery. Fighting in that cage is one of the toughest sports in the world and forget about physically getting hurt but what is millions worth is dealing with the humiliation of getting KO'ed in front of the world etc etc. Imho anyone who is paying 20/20 or 10/10 to these fighters deserves to go to jail or the police should shout down his production under the law of disrespecting human values

You're a fan of slavery I suppose for supporting the sport.

MMA is a fallback sport, the fighters knew what they were getting into. There's no case for them to be entitled to any of purchase money.

College football would fit that more than the UFC. They get a "free education" that they pay for with 10 years off their lives.

Fighters knew what they were doing when they signed a contract, MMA is a fallback sport.

Calling the UFC the definition of slavery is like when people say something along the lines of "my head would literally explode."

LMAO at comparing Blake Griffin to any UFC fighter. Blake earns $26m in salary alone. Former champion Frankie Edgar at "the biggest card in history" made a massive $190k before taxes/management cut/hospital bill etc.

The fighters have have been getting fucked in the ass forever. A union needed to be created a decade ago.

All major sports (NFL,NHL,NBA,MLB) have a players association.

The UFC wanted to go mainstream; Uniforms, Fox Sports deal etc etc....a fighters association needs to happen now, the fighters deserve the respect that other professional athletes have.

A Union keeps both the organization/league and athletes in check. If no Union is established the UFC is just a WWE wankfest.

"Buy our pay-per-views to support the fighters" - 15 years later, $4 billion, and millions of deals now & fighters still making peanuts

This is literally the only thing I see you comment, no matter what the thread is about.

It's truth, fighters aren't good enough athletes to get into the sports where you're guaranteed 7 figures.

I think you're missing their sentiment. Fighters who have a name that fans know, in an organization the was valued at 4 billion should probably make more than 300K a year. Also if you follow certain forecasting models for how these businesses are valuated, it's usually in the neighborhood of 8-12 times the yearly net income. Lets say that's 333 million a year on the very low end. In every other major sport, which is what the UFC claims they want to be, the actual competitors get right around a 50/50 split with the owners. I would doubt that the UFC came close to even paying out 150 million to their fighters last year. That's what Ariel is saying when he mentions how this 4 billion dollar price tag might alter any and all of the fighters' expectation for pay. The fighters on their first contract should expect 15K/15K but there are some popular vets that are only at like 50K/50K. The pay is going up but is it on par with the revenue splits in other major sports?

that has no bearing on what TS is saying.....

The UFC sold for 4 Billion?

Connor Macgregor should get like 1/2 of that. Its like splitting a boxing purse.
