Something cool that nobody is mentioning about Stipe's defense record

The heavyweight belt is the oldest in the UFC, which makes his record even more impressive.

First awarded
Feb 7, 1997 - Heavyweight
Dec 21, 1997 - Light Heavyweight
Oct 16, 1998 - Welterweight
Feb 23, 2001 - Lightweight
Sep 28, 2001 - Middleweight
Nov 20, 2010 - Featherweight
Dec 16, 2010 - Bantamweight
Sep 22, 2012 - Flyweight
Dec 6, 2012 - Women's Bantamweight
Dec 12, 2014 - Women's Strawweight
Feb 11, 2017 - Women's Featherweight
Dec 1, 2017 - Women's Flyweight

He's also the first person named Stipe Miocic to win the UFC Heavyweight title.

Such historic history.

And I think he would shovel DC and Cane Vol Las Kez

This isn't some quirky trivia. The longer a belt has been around the more opportunity there is for someone to come along and defend it multiple times.

Also the first fireman from Cleveland to win the UFC Heavyweight strap.

Most definitely And especially more impressive given the extremely high risk nature of HW fights in general.

I'd be especially curious to see a percentage breakdown on finishes vs decisions in title fights per weight class.

He's also the first American who doesn't speak English to win it

He wears his hat backwards. Haven't seen another champ do that. Matt Hughes didn't. Randy Couture didn't. Tito couldn't fit most hats...

Meh we'll never know.

Personally I think DC would beat Stipe. He's more athletic, better wrestling, better cardio, better pretty much everything

I remember when the UFC first booked Miocic vs JDS I and everyone thought that was crazy booking and JDS would run through him.. JDS had one of the best HW resumes ever at the time (if not the best), but look where we are today.

The heavyweight and the lightweight belts are hardest to defend. 3 times is the record for both I think...

That's the fight that really put him on the map imo.

I think even pound-for-pound, Stipe has had a better MMA career than Cormier. Though if you ignore the doping, Bones has had a better career than both (so far).

At the time the Roy Nelson fight too. He absolutely dismantled Nelson. At the time they fought, Nelson had had 3 consecutive 1st round KOs and Stipe had just been Ko'd by Stefan Struve (who had been knocked out by Nelson in 39 seconds). Seems crazy now but most expected him to walk through Stipe.

Make a thread asking someone to do this for you so you can continue being lazy.

Your ability to state the obvious knows no bounds
