Crime Someone tried to assassinate Donald Trump at his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania

you know, a cheap drone could have spotted that shooter easy.

there are questions.

for the record i'm not buying into any nonsense false flag or staged shooting/crisis actor bullshit. i'm just curious whether or not the secret service just simply dropped the ball and got caught with their pants down. i'm sure it will all come out eventually.

Yes some serious incompetence on display

There’s an old saying when I grew up:

Talk shit get hit.

Trump can’t expect to keep dishing out craziness and not have craziness find him.

Glad he’s safe but blaming Democrats for this is just finding someone else to blame for the issues that Republicans caused by nominating him.

Did we forget the whole world was laughing at us for allowing him to become the president in the first place? Did we forget how he was calling the election a shame and saying the votes were rigged? Did we forget the insurrection he egged on before leaving office? Did we forget the prostitute he paid off?

With mental illness at an all time high you can’t expect to rub people the wrong way and get off scott free. None of these actions deserve him being shot at but he’s been causing anarchy. Anarchy found him yesterday and he’s lucky he got away relatively unscathed.

Might be time to see a psychiatrist, bro.

The story I read was after being alerted by the public a cop was boosted up to the roof, the shooter turned and aimed at him so he had tk duck back down, the shooter then turned and took his shot

It seems that the cop forced the shooter to rush his shot. Could have been the difference between him hitting Trump or missing like he did.

ive seen some bullshit getting thrown around on twitter of fbi agents adjacent to the shooter with rifles drawn trying to imply that it was the fbi shooting at trump. i'm not believing that but people are throwing out all kinds of crazy shit.

i'll just wait for the facts. but from what i understand they were aware of this guy on the rooftops but they never took action until he started firing. that's not a good look.

Yeah he was up there long enough for the public to notice and film him but they never thought to take the potential target to safety. Incompetence is the most generous explanation

Multiple people at the rally saw the guy and alerted police a few minutes before the shooting.

Uh, no they wouldn't have. I'm actually in the camp that doing the fist pumping and not getting the fuck out of there right away was a bad idea. Could have been a second shooter. It wound up producing a badass iconic Iwo Jima level photograph, and that's all people will remember. You can try to downplay it all you want, but it won't work.
<Huh2>
Iwo Jima level?? Did you fall and hurt your head? Nothing that Donald Trump has ever done in his entire life makes him worthy of being compared to those brave soldiers, and no photograph of Trump past, present, or future is worthy of being compared to it either.
In fact, we had Americans captured at Iwo Jima, and we all know Trump doesn’t like soldiers who have been captured. It’s sad that I even had to put Trump and Iwo Jima in the same sentence.

Trump should fire everyone on his detail and hure private security.

Right, because that has historically gone super well.
The last thing someone like Trump needs is an earned private security force.

The most likely theory I've heard is that they thought he could be friendly (ss or police stationed on the roof). And the rally continued despite that uncertainty. But that doesn't excuse not shutting everything down until they verified who he was. Nor does it excuse not having that building secured to begin with. There were obviously communication and/or leadership deficits.

It's going to be a rough Monday for many morons who made unhinged tweets this weekend.

Shit, was joking about MSNBC having to scrub their entire archive of the last 8 years. Then woke up this morning to see at least for today Morning Joe and Mika was pulled and replaced (again, at least for just today). Maybe their bosses thought there was too much risk of them being unhinged lol

Even if they thought he was some idiot with a telescope surely standard procedure would be to rush the target to safety and send some people up there to confirm what's going on

Probably already posted but:

The 20-year-old gunman who tried to assassinate Donald Trump at a campaign rally was previously rejected from his high school shooting club because he was 'a bad shooter', it has been revealed.

As authorities work to determine what motivated the 20-year-old to stage the assassination attempt on the former president, former classmates, friends and family members are coming forward with details about his background.

Crooks’ former classmates at Bethel Park High have revealed that he was interested in firearms during his school days – and had attended trials for the school’s rifle team.

Jameson Myers told ABC News that Crooks fell short of making the team and was asked not to return to the club after the preseason due to his 'dangerous' shot.

'He didn’t just not make the team, he was asked not to come back because how bad of a shot he was, it was considered like, dangerous,' said Myers, who went to both elementary and high school with Crooks.

A member of the rifle team, who wished to remain anonymous, also told the network that Crooks’ 'shot terribly' and 'wasn’t really fit for the rifle team'.

Crooks graduated from high school in 2022 but his interest in guns clearly didn’t end there.

He was a member of local sports club – Clairton Sportsmen’s Club in Pennsylvania – which has a 200-yard rifle range, CNN reported.

The club’s attorney confirmed in a statement that the shooter was a member but said they could not 'additional commentary in relation to this matter in light of pending law enforcement investigations'.

The shooters parents are mental health professionals

And, no doubt, progressives. I wonder what this kid grew up hearing at the dinner table to think he had to go shoot someone over politics?
