Young, cocky and mouthy - UFC think they can mould him into a star. You're right though, he's pretty average. They'll need a few more Vendramini type opponents.
Yes, like I said, I mean once a generation roughly, that was hyperbole, but it is a very common irish name, if someone is called patrick, chances are they are irish...Of course I know that. "Paddy" is a nickname, short for Patrick. Why do you think I mentioned his actual name being Patrick????? Funny but my father is 100% Irish and oldest of 13. I have no aunts or uncles named Patrick. My mom's name was Patricia though.
My father is 100% Irish and both his grandfathers were called patrick, as well as many of his uncles and great uncles and so forth...Of course I know that. "Paddy" is a nickname, short for Patrick. I’m out of the loop with the kid so I checked his record to see why he’s so hyped up and he’s kind of bad??

1) McGregor is still a huge star in Great Britain1) McGregor isn't British
2) You American lot are waaay fucking worse.. Colby, Cody Garbrandt, Chael, Johnny walker, Sage, Derrick Lewis. Tony Ferguson, Tito Ortiz.. I could go on all night.. So it's a bit "pot, kettle, black"
3) Britain has had Bisping and Till.. Nobody in the UK is really expecting Paddy to win championships at all, he's a decent fighter and a good interviewee... That's it, no hype at all other than he gets interviews because he isn't a wooden little cringe fest like most elite fighters
Walker Johnny de Souza is Brazilian, not American1) McGregor isn't British

I am unaware of all the hype. He lost to a guy named Nad.
The Ireland thing is overstated, this kid is from Liverpool and his aim is to bring the UFC to Anfield.
I'm sure he wouldn't mind being supported very loudly in Ireland, but he's Liverpudlian through and through.
If he ends up headlining an open air UFC event in front of 60,000, he's a bonafide rock star.
And THAT is why the UFC will push/protect him.
