Someone explain to me how a 5 foot 8 GSP is going to handle a huge guy like Bisping

GSP over the years trained with Rashad (205) and Weidman (185). He also rolled with Sonnen a few times when Sonnen was a big deal at 185 and Sonnen admitted that GSP got the better of things. GSP has a good idea what he can do against bigger quality fighters.

But let's be real here. GSP is up for a 185 title fight with Bisping. He thinks he can win and probably will win. He doesn't want to go toe to toe with 185 beasts like Romero, Souza, Rockhold, Weidman, etc. on a regular basis. GSP is cherry picking Bisping for a big money title fight. Why not? Then he goes back to 170 or fights Conor at 155 or catch weight in another big money fight. The UFC isn't like the NFL, NBA or NHL with playoff brackets and a clear path to the championship. This is a fight PROMOTION and they have clearly shown that they are ok with being more circus than sport given events during the Rhonda and Conor era. It's all about the Benjamin's...

I thought GSP was 5'10"?

It's a trend that shertards act like fighters are shorter than they really are, so they feel more confident about their own physical stature. Even though they would all get raped by MM.

Bisping about to beat the top 2 greatest of all time fighters, shutteling himself into the number 1 goat spot, yeah buddeh!!

He will handle him by making him shorter, by taking him down.

Although it was just for fun, GSP wrestlefucked Georges Laraque a 6'3" 270 pound A level athlete pretty competently.

Oddly enough I mentioned that very situation with Laraque when people were saying GSP wouldn't be able to take Hendricks down because of his size. I said that size had very little to do with it, GSP could handle the size and strength, it would be Johny's technique and skills that would nullify the wrestling.

Bisping does have a size advantage and perhaps the added strength of being larger for GSP to contend with, but Georges will still be a take down threat. Bisping will have two disadvantages in this fight, the first one being over confidence regarding GSP's power, and the other one will be those high kicks Bisping likes to use.

Without any fear of being KOed, Bisping will press the action and allow Georges to jab away at will. When Bisping gets frustrated with being unable to impose his will on Georges he will start throwing those kicks to close the distance and to try to tag Georges....won't be too many of those before we see GSP land the double leg.

If Bisping doesn't throw the kicks, GSP will set up the double leg off of a combo to Bisping's weak eye side. We will see the jab clinic for a while with a predictable set of combos as well as a GSP kick or two. Georges will create a pattern and rhythm with his combos letting Bisping feel comfortable with the striking exchanges and timing the counters. Again the double leg will land as soon as Bisping figures he has the distance sorted out.

Can GSP keep Bisping on the ground? That I am not as confident in saying. Bisping is very good at getting back to his feet, but he often uses the cage to do it. Georges rarely allows for the fight to shift next to the cage, he works well to keep things closer to the center of the Octagon.

Trash talk? Bisping loves to get guys going with the constant BS and trash. GSP will barely say anything to him accept for pleasantries and respectful remarks. Bisping won't be able to get into GSP's head, it might actually mess with Bisping a bit.

This fight will mostly be about what GSP will bring as his game plan in my opinion. I haven't really noticed Bisping bring too much of a game plan to his fights. He has had some well thought out combo's at times, and relied heavily on his cardio to stay in dangerous fights, but Bisping usually has the same volume over time type of fights that a Diaz brings to the table. Georges will know this and be prepared for it, the better question is what will Bisping be prepared for?

I am interested in this fight, I just think it sucks that we have a couple of serious contenders at MW about to be screwed around with. Getting a title shot in the UFC is as much about luck and fortune as it is about being skilled. I hate seeing deserving fighters potentially missing a rare shot at a title because of money fights. Whoever makes the next MMA promotion should just build it around money fights and have no belts.

Bisping is thicker and much longer than GSP. Seriously GSP is not going to be able to takedown someone that size forget about holding him down. GSPs talents rely on him being superior athletically, Bispings HUGE weight advantage cancels this up. Bisping could fight at LHW.

Does anyone give GSP a chance at all? I dont.

If Mayhem Miller could take Bisping down, and keep him down for the remainder of the 1st round.....I don't think GSP would have any problem in that department.

Gsp is 511

Compare him to the 6 2 condit
6 foot hardy
6 foot Diaz
6 foot shields

Pre UFC GSP's height was listed 5 9.

Everyone in the UFC is 2-3 inches taller than their real height... this is day one stuff kid.

Nightmare match up for GSP.

Bisping has the cardio to go the whole 5, good hands and movement and will be able keep the distance and stuff the takedown because of his size advantage.

GSP is just too small. We are talking a small ww vs a large mw. There is going to be a huge difference.

Bisping will get the W.

If I remember corrctly miller didn't take that fight seriously and was running over bisping till he gassed.

George made miller look the worst he ever has and miller was in shape for that fight.

George has already handled bisping in training I think he's gonna run over him.

Bisping is coming in too confident and thinks he is worlds better now than when they sparred and doesn't think he has anything to worry about. His over confidence and cockiness will be his downfall.

George is gonna come in fresh and renewed to a new weight class with something to prove and we will see the George on fire that ran heron into the cage and kicked miller in the face.

Kennedy outwrestled Bisping but it was more with his power. Chael did it more traditionally. GSP is giving up a fair amount of size to both, but Kennedy certainly isn't a better wrestler, and many would argue GSP is better than Chael. I don't see GSP winning this due to not being able to hold Bisping down, nor having any realistic way of finishing the fight.

The only time i've ever rooted for Bisping was when Rockhold basically one-upped him in acting like an arrogant douchebag. I generally like Georges but I think Bisping will beat him because of the size difference.

I think Bisping is a huge duck. He's been calling out old guys like Hendo and WW's like GSP or Nick Diaz then Woodley. He's trying to hold on to that belt as long as he can without fighting any of the top contenders in his own division. It's amazing to me how many people are now riding on Bisping's nuts rather than calling him out for this. And don't tell me this is just the UFC's doing. Bisping was actively campaigning for those guys.

And as we noted above....Mayhem out wrestled Bisping in the 1st round by "retard strength." If GSP doesn't get caught....it will look like the Nick Diaz fight.
