So I've been learning (and getting pretty good at) picking locks. Ran out of locks to practice on, so for the first time in a year and a half I went to check my building's storage locker and pick that lock. Sure enough, I find that sometime in the last 18 or so months, some fucker broke the lock off my locker - looked like he tried cutting it too. Didn't steal shit AFAIK - although there was nothing of value in there and I don't even remember half of what I had there.

These eastern Europeans in my building are getting on my last nerve. I'm about to fill each unit with uppercuts

So you’re learning to pick locks, presumably to do the same thing you’re pissed about?

I know it's ironic, but nothing wrong with picking my own lock - the one they broke was one I purchased myself. And I ain't planning on going around breaking into other people's shit.

Eastern Europeans lol. Around here they will steal your car, not your locker.

I take 3 salvage BMW and make a the 1 good one. No title but give good price. Very expert car. Two for one.

Oh they steal people's mail, one of these fuckers has had the cops called on him for peeking in people's windows three times in the past year.

So when do you see needing the skill to pick locks?

When I lock myself or one of my friends/neighbors locks themselves out. What's wrong with learning something new?

Why do people pay for a locker to store things that aren't worth stealing?

I found the culprit

Nothing, unless it’s a “trade” only used by criminals. I’m nearly 41, and the only time I’ve encountered a lock without a key is on the storage shed at a house my mom bought at a foreclosure auction last year. 3 seconds with a pair of bolt cutters and I was in.

I just think it’s funny and ironic how you started the story with that bit of info. I probably would have left that out. :D

That's part of why I included it. It is indeed ironic. And I'm kinda proud I'm learning a new skill, so whatever. The way things work interests me.

I've had two coworkers ask me to break into their cars for them when they locked their keys in. Needless to say I know quite a few forgetful people. Not to mention people pay for that service so it's not completely useless to someone to know, even if they're not robbing everyone.

I don't mean to get racist or anything and I'm sure they're not all bad, but are they usually unfriendly? Is there a reason for it? I'll say hi to them all the time, hold the door for them and they don't respond and act like I live to serve them or something. One of them made mention that Americans should leave the country. WTF?
