Is there any actual proof that Jones vs Ngannou was going to happen? Did Jon Jones ever actually accept a fight with big Francis? Was JBJ asking for ludicrous impossible money for the potential Ngannou match up? How much did he end up accepting against Gane in comparison?

Was it all part of JBJ’s master plan to return at HW without having to fight Ngannou??? I find the timeline, the 3 year wait, the moment chosen to return, the selection of Cyril Gane (incredibly favourable stylistic matchup) as his opponent really suspicious. I’ve always watched JBJ and enjoyed (almost) all his fights. The man is possibly the greatest in the octagon. As a fight fan and JBJ fan, some of this doesn’t sit right with me as I can’t help but feel like we were a little manipulated by the UFC.

He is just asking for as much money as he can for the superfight. Guys got bills to pay and a family to feed
Did Jones and UFC ever officially agree to a $ number against Ngannou? I keep seeing “quotes” from White & Jones. Apologies if I’m rehashing something. I’m just interested in the truth.

Is there any evidence out there that Jones officially accepted a fight with Francis Ngannou before returning to the UFC?
Is there any evidence out there that Jones demanded far more money for a potential Ngannou match than he accepted to fight Gane?
The evidence is the contract Ngannou was given.

It was in the contract that he would receive 8 million for the Jones fight. And then 2-3 mil for any other fight afterwards I believe.

Given that the 8 million dollar fight offer for Jones was the biggest bargaining chip for keeping him, it's impossible that they would have wrote out the contract under the pretext of Jones coming to an agreement afterwards.

Let's assume this actually happened. But then Jones didn't sign. Now you have a massive legal liability on your hands, the very offer that is the main reason Ngannou signed is unable to be fulfilled.

Doesn't make much sense does it?

Such a thing isn't legal.

If they offered Ngannou a contract which says he would fight Jones for 8 million, then that means Jones had already come to an agreement.

Yes,Im sure there are forum posters who have this sensitive information, that this thread will compel them to bring to light.
I remain pessimistically optimistic.

We all have the information.

Ngannou was offered a contract in writing that stated he would fight Jones for 8 million.

It's not legal to offer something like that in a binding contract unless Jones had already come to an agreement.

Massive corporate entities don't mess around with contracts, they wouldn't put something in writing over word of mouth.

You have proof that Jones had come to an agreement to fight Ngannou? Can you show me? How much money did Jones agree to?

Nobody can show those specifics.

But that's not the point

Mods please delete disingenuous replies that aren’t providing any direct evidence to the honest thread questions asked.
You're asking for something that doesn't exist.

Obviously we aren't always going to see behind the scenes specifics.

And we are left to our own devices. But we've been provided enough information to indicate that Jones had already come to an agreement with the UFC.

Im not sure why you seem to be so convinced Jones didn't want this fight in spite of all the evidence showing otherwise.

What does that Tweet tell you?
I remember Ariel saying he heard that Jones was asking for more because Francis was way more dangerous of an a opponent. More risk more money is what I remember. Jones is a cherry picker though, even today the evidence is clear with him choosing Stipe out of all people to fight. I doubt if Jones was ever even serious about fighting Francis, I wouldn't doubt it if he even priced himself out on purpose. Deontay Wilder money is what I remember he wanted btw if I'm not mistaken, "per Dana".

With all that being said, there's really no way to ever truly know.

It doesn't work like that.

It's like poker. The cards are face down.
Maybe you got bluffed, maybe you didn't, you don't know.

8-10million wasn't enough to fight Francis. - Jon's own words.

Thats all we know.

Then Francis left and Jon was finally bulked up enough for that 2013 HW run.
