It's quite simple.

Every lb you miss will be taken off your final score at the end of the fight. (Assuming fight goes to a decision)

So if you miss weight by 2lbs and you win 2 out of 3 rounds or 3 out of 5 you'll still lose the fight.

If you miss in increments under 1lb always round up

You're welcome UFC and the athletic commission

Not a terrible idea. I'll have to think about it a bit, and read all the asshole posts coming your way to check if there is any substance. lol

Lol I'm waiting for the flaming too

Stay tuned

So Dern loses 7 points, still wins and stays undefeated

Instead of this stupid idea, how about we have a Japanese Chef next to the scale. He carves off the amount of flesh the fighter is overweight, using his really cool Japanese knives.

Horrible idea. You'll have fighters backing out of fights after weigh ins and then the card gets messed up because its too late to schedule replacements and the UFC has to refund for paid tickets (law in some states). Better to nip it in the bud and make sure fighters are in the right weight classes based on their walking weight like ONE.

They will still miss weight and hope that by being bigger, it will lead to a finish and not matter. Problem not completely solved.
Here is the real answer:
If you miss weight two times, you never get booked in that division again and must move up. Problem solved.

When you miss weight your opponent gets to kick you in the nuts while you stand still. Just before the fight start.

This was the first one that came to mind for me as well.

There was another male fighter that missed weight by 4 or 5 pounds a few months back but fucked if I can remember who it was.

So if you're 1lb under weight you get a point at the end too? Ummmmmmmmmm

Jungle Fights does this already, albeit a slightly less draconian version

43 of the 1004 fighters who competed in those 46 cards missed weight, and their records are the opposite of the success overweight fighters found in the Octagon in 2018.

Eight of those bouts ended via decision, and only one fighter was able to win despite having points deducted. In several cases, fighters were deducted three points for missing weight by more than 4.4 pounds. Overweight fighters went 11-20 in the Jungle Fight cage since January 2013, going 4-7 in fights that ended via submission, 6-6 in bouts that ended by knockout, and 1-7 in decisions. Nine bouts were scrapped, and on one occasion two athletes fought each other after both missed weight.

Seven championship fights were affected by fighters missing weight at Jungle Fight over the past five years, and four were scrapped immediately. In two occasions, the bouts proceeded as non-title. Amanda Ribas, who is currently under contract with the UFC but suspended by USADA, missed weight and was deducted two points, but won via submission in 76 seconds. Herberth Souza, deducted a point, lost his non-title bout via unanimous decision.

Every UFC contract needs a clause saying if u miss weight twice you need to move up
