So who stole Anthony Smith's soul?

I think the situation with intruder fucked him up...

The beatdown he recived from glover afterwards didnt do him any favors...

Which isnt funny at all if you think about this junkie could have very well killed his family with a weapon.
Just picture it yourself a second that in the night some crazy person on drugs breaks into your home.
smith was going to stab him to death and chose not too. imagine making fun on him on a forum.

Not to pull the classic "he was never good to begin with because he lost recently" bs... but really, who did Smith beat to get a title shot? Is it really surprising that he has lost several fights now considering who his "credibility wins" were over?

And it's not just him; Reyes, Santos, Volkan, Jan... who really have these guys been beating to suddenly become top 5 contenders in a division? While it's not their fault that 205 is so thin, I'm not going to sit there and pretend that these are all proven guys with resumes that compare with that of the top 10 of other divisions.

Jon Jones' run from 2011-2015 is one of the best if not the best in mma history but his title defenses in recent years have become very Mighty Mouse esque IMHO (when he started fighting guys like Chris Cariaso and Tim Elliott) except at least Mighty Mouse was usually finishing these lesser fighters whereas Jones looks incredibly disinterested and has underperformed. Both WAY overstayed their welcome in their divisions and actually hurt their legacies more than they improved them over time IMHO but at least Jones has finally moved up even though it is likely too late

TL/DR version: Smith was a fairly middling fighter even at 185 so I don't think anyone "stole his soul". Getting a title shot in the worst division and going to a decision with Jones in modern day is not as big of a deal as it once was.

He clearly lost to Jones but that wasn't even in the top five of his worst losses, considering he had been finished twelve times before that. Smith was never elite and the streak that lead to a title shot wasn't that impressive either : a completely shot Rashad, past 2010 Shogun and Volkan who lost a ton of hype.

So far Id say he is the same fighter hes been for the past 5 years. If he loses to Clark then Id be worried.

Smith should have easily been able to sub him, hell, he fought for the LHW title FFS.

Don't try to explain that to shertards. They're some of the lower forms of life on this planet. How would they understand a concept like family, when their only worth in life are stats and memes on this website.

Your right here with us buddeh

Smith has always been hot or cold. No soul stealing occurred, even though he sure took a beating from Glover. Its not the first - or the last - beating he's gonna take. I like Smith, hopefully he gets to administer some beatings as well before he's done.

I just don't think he is a very good MMA fighter, at the end of the day. Yes he's ok, he's not terrible, he's won some fights in UFC, but at a UFC-level, he's really simply not that good.

I don't think his heart is really in it anymore either, so my belief is that 2020 or 2021 will be his last in the UFC, whether thru retirement or thru getting cut.

He doesn't bother to lean out and build muscle, so yeah cut his lazy ass. He looks pillowy and pudgy at the weigh in.

He was fortunate enough to get some big names on his resume when they were washed up or in a low point in their career

His best win is probably Oezdemir. Gustafsson was not in the right place mentally. The other big names were all washed up

Jones wouldve been enraged and prob killed the intruder and felt no remorse, smith got ptsd and felt helpless...he's made soft tbh

I can’t help but think that Smith’s life would different if he took the DQ win off Jones. Probably would have went on a tear at LHW and one-shot-ko’d the meth head in his garage.

As someone who grew up in the mid west, I'm pretty sure that's the only reason he's marketed.
