Media So... Who Should Pico Fight?

The Movsar fight would have been amazing, but since that's not happening... who do you think they're gonna throw him in there with? Who do you WANT him to fight?

I just want to see him fight. Any of those matchups from Ortega to Kattar would be great, just get him in the cage ASAP

What kind of stupid ranking is that with Max and Volk ahead of Ilia?

Ige and Kattar are probably the best fights to get him some Octagon experience and give him a good chance at a win. Even those guys might crack him though, he’s very hittable.

I don’t think he deserves a top 10 matchup yet. His resume is terrible, and he’s still a nobody to casuals.

If they want to try to speed-run him like Chandler/Pitbull they could give him Ortega (if he doesn't move up in weight) or Emmett.

It seems kind of absurd to give him a top 5 fight in his debut, he's young enough where he doesn't need to be rushed.

I honestly wouldn't hate to see him get a more slow-run with a top 15 fight like Ige or Kattar, just let him get his feet wet and possibly get a highlight reel finish then can get a top 10 fight.

I personally just don’t think he’s good enough for a top 10 fight, at least not if he fights how he did in Bellator.

Even guys like Ige and Kattar are experienced enough to have better counter wrestling than he’s faced in MMA so far, and he’s already been caught by lesser strikers.

Surprised so many people think he should get a top 10 right away. I think a guy just outside the rankings like Steve Garcia, Doo Ho Choi, or Edson Barboza is appropriate.

Choi and Barboza are pretty damn good ideas if they don't want to rush him. Barboza threatens him with the striking obviously, but he's getting older and Pico has a much better ground game... plus is a name casuals know. Choi would just be straight violence.

Not good enough or not deserving?

I'd be surprised if he wasn't a betting favorite over both of those 2 if announced

I think all 3 are banger fights and appropriate for a guy like Pico who has potential but just hasn’t quite gotten there. I don’t think he’s proven himself worthy a top 10 guy yet.

Agree with all your points.

Emmett and Ortega might be declined/semi-washed at this point to where he could jump the rankings and skip an unnecessary dangerous fight against someone like Ige.

I think Kattar would be the easiest fight of them all for him.

Possibly both. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was the betting favorite either though.

Pico has the potential to win boring decisions by wrestling the entire fight, he just didn’t do that much in Bellator. If he keeps things standing in the UFC like he did in Bellator, it won’t end well.

Even though Kattar is well past prime, he’s been in there with some good grapplers, and has savvy striking. Ige has also seen a lot as well and still has plenty of power.
