So What's Sean's Path To Victory?

High IQ, grinding fight where he avoids DDP’s bursts and allows him to gas before picking up the pace to a close decision.

I have Dricus being better everywhere, more power, stronger, etc and he's got Sean shook after the abusive dad comments. I don't see how Sean takes this one unless he Homer Simpson's his way into deep waters where Du Plissis gases and Sean takes a decision.

Will gladly eat crow and revisit if Sean KOs him in the first or otherwise dominates from pole to post.
Face punching until DDP runs out of energy and collapses.

dricus being better everywhere is ridiculous lmao

Survive rounds 1 & 2 and then press the action in 3,4,5 and let his cardio walk him to a decision.

DDP gases in every fight that goes the distance or late in round 3. more than likely he comes in with a heavey grappling game plan. this will not work out well for him in rounds 4 and 5. he must finish it early to secure the win. if he cant take strickland down he is going to have a long night.

DDP isn't that consistent. He had a tough fight with Till not that long ago. He has one good win over Whittaker and maybe it was just an off night for him.

He also hasn't been tested over 5 rounds.

Strickland's TTD and grappling are a question mark too though since I can't recall anyone wrestling Sean.

Just needs to avoid getting taken down, that's it.

Dricus isnt better anywhere except power and wrestling. This fight is going to get ugly after the 2nd round for dricus.
I love his style. He is wide open. And everyone is gasping for air 5 mins into the fight.
I’m rooting for dricus as he’s never been in a bad fight.

Strickland's path to victory is to spend the last month physically and mentally preparing in the same manner as he did before the Adesanya fight, and arriving at the same physical and mental state this evening that he arrived at just before the Adesanya fight.

I'm not sure he has done that.

If he did, he might win.

sean's on a roll, dricus will start to wilt in the 3rd, get smashed to oblivion rd 4

Grappling and BJJ techniques are designed to neutralize moderate strength advantages.

Purportedly, Strickland is very good on the ground.

The only apparent weakness on either side is DDP's cardio in late rounds.

Theoretically, a grappling-heavy strategy from DDP could backfire.

The best way to gas a meaty guy in two rounds is make him work on the ground.

It doesn't bode well that Strickland talked about losing the belt in a recent interview. "Everyone loses."

I don't think that was his mindset going in to the Izzy fight.
IMO.

Cardio, better technique, and better ground game.

I can see it going either way but "better everywhere" is a huge stretch.

Sean definitely has an edge in a mostly-striking fight that goes the distance and comes down to cardio and volume. We've seen him win fights the same way the prime Diaz bros and Bisping used to. I've never seen DDP do that. If it goes 5 rounds, I definitely favor Sean.
