So what’s the point of making weight if you can come into a fight a few pounds heavier...

...and still get a title shot at the end?

This pseudo-sport is becoming more of a joke everyday.

Rockhold is probably second guessing his decision to take the fight after the weigh ins. Romero was in a win win situation.

Title shot isn’t guaranteed. Facts and circumstances of the case will need to be weighed. Does the fighter have a track record of missing weight? Was there an injury? Was the fighter’s performance so impressive they are clearly the #1 contender?

Common sense is applied, not a one size fits all set of rules

If he gets the next shot, it will surely entice more fighters who cut a lot of weight to not make weight and chance they can go out, fight better, have a great finish and all be forgotten and the reward negating any wrongdoing.

You think the 3lbs is what determined the outcome?

Oh Lord... here we go...

Of all the bullshit and shenanigans we’ve seen around title shots over the years, and especially recently, this is really the least of it.

This is nonsense, Luke looked bigger in the cage. Romero is simply a better fighter than Rockhold.

Regardless of who came in at what weight, Rockhold was going to be the larger fighter come fight night.

Idc if yoel gets a shot but I would want someone else to fight bob first just due to that stomping knee kick Yoel did to bob that messed up his knee. We don't need bob to be on the shelf again and that kick is a hazard. I don't think He threw it against rockhold because Luke was southpaw

didnt romero take this fight in short notice, missing out on 2 weeks of a training camp?

He was not in top shape and still killed your boy, stfu whiners

Nah if GSP can come back he would get the title shot, Weidman could potentially have a shot as well

I have full confidence that Dana White and his colleagues will carefully consider all the sensible points you have made.

100% agree. Losing that last 2 lbs would have taken a lot out of him, just like it did Rockhold. He should have lost 70% of the purse and had to fight an interim fight to get a title shot. They need to bring back discipline. You re either a middleweight or not, he was not last night. Time to step up to 205. He was probably 215 in there. And I’m a Romero fan.

Boxing has done it for the longest time, floyd comes to mind.

I think it was against marquez, came in heavy on purpose to have a size advantage

So because one fighter “looked bigger” they shouldn’t strictly enforce weigh-ins? Ridiculous.
