It can be an advantage especially after the IV ban, if you don't cut much weight then you can fight at 100% instead of draining yourself. The trade off is that your'e opponent is going to have a size advantage over you but it has been working well for undersized people like Val, Edgar, Masvidal, Cerrone, gastelum, Whittaker ect.
