Because he knows that even past prime Stipe might be too much without proper preparation. When he actually steps in the octagon he will have been preparing for like 2 years. Perhaps reasonable since it's moving up.
Prime Stipe beats all so it doesn't even matter much. He said it's most likely just 1 more for him.

The 3rd DC fight were neither guy looked at their best seemed to make up Jones mind, announced he was moving up days after that.

You don't delay the big fight, you make it. Otherwise we'll be stuck with Stipe vs. Lewis.
 
Whether you like or hate Jones, it's pretty clear that objectively this fight has zero chance of happening. Jones wants several million to fight at HW, so he's not gonna fight Stipe in a non-title fight. Economically, there's no way that fight can bring in enough revenue to pay anywhere near what Jones wants without a belt on the line. There is no scenario where Jon Jones fights in a non-title fight, other than maybe vs Brock Lesnar as he has the ability to generate the type of revenue that this fight would require.
 
Jones ducked Prime Stipe , thats a fact.
This 230 pound soccer dad Stipe with glasses and an expensive haircut is nowhere close to prime Stipe.

you acting like jon is making 20k nope jone one of the highest paid in the history of the ufc. he makes millions when he fights. since when is making millions being paid peanuts?

you should look at how mnay of the bellator fighters make less than 5k still

jon wasnt talking about money before francis won. before the event he was posting clips saying he cant wait top fight the winner. jones vs stipe would of already been signed.
 
Jon is not taking that fight even if they pointed a gun to this head. He would be an absolute moron to take that fight. Luckily, Jon is a smart guy when it comes to these games so he's not gonna take it.
