Can someone explain to me how Shogun has to withdraw from a fight in April but a couple if not a day later gets signed to fight Corey Anderson in May? Am I missing something?

Absolutely huge Shogun fan here, but this is terribly odd.

Shogun you'd hope wouldn't be "ducking" anyone, never mind Rashad. I actually was going to put money on Shogun because he was a 2/1 underdog for this fight in the UK betting lines, WTF!? I actually thought he'd KO Rashad, I honestly think Evans is finished - but that's just me!

Shogun vs Anderson just reminds me of Shogun vs Ovince St. Preux again. Corey could lose that fight though, I don't see the finished article in that guy yet - solid wrestling, basic solid striking with no real second gear.

Shogun really has become the gatekeeper for these prospects eh, what a way for a legend to go... :(

Shogun didn't pull out of the fight UFC cancelled it. He was willing to fight.

His manager said he got injured and will be out for a while, but he is fighting 3 weeks later. very strange. someone has been telling us porkies...

Shogun's fought Jon Jones, Chuck Liddell, Rampage Jackson, Dan Henderson to name a few, you really think he's scared or ducking Rashad Evans?

If anything he's saving the fans from witnessing Rashad try to LnP a decision against one of the ALL TIME LEGENDS....

MAURICIO "SHOGUN" RUUUUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!

Eh, it's either retire or fight the young cubs. He's not anywhere near the title picture so he needs to go back of the rankings. I for one still think he has something left in the tank, not much but maybe one more push. I can't recall the fight though so my memory may but hazy but I thought Nog beat him. Mighta been the drugs. Corey isn't a finisher and he's young as hell so this is the perfect fight for Shogun. If he wins he's still relevant, if he losses a decision or worse a finish to Anderson it might be time to call it a day.

Shogun has been fighting for so many years that he seems a lot older than he is. He's still relatively young in age, but the guy is finished at the top and that's the truth. One of the main things that made him a super dangerous opponent was his kicks, the guy cannot kick any more, his knees are busted and he honestly barely throws them at this stage. He's a brawler, with some decent ground skills, but when Chael is choking you out, it's over man.

Shogun going on the senior's tour was a cool idea for me, the likes of Lil' Nog, Evans, Teixeira, Bader, Manuwa etc. the guy is still super entertaining and has a big following, but feeding him to these Corey Anderson types is annoying - annoying more so for Corey. Shogun is still so dangerous when he has a good day, last thing you want is Corey getting brutally KO'd by Shogun, that sets him back and takes away one of the very few rising stars of the LHW division - Shogun literally gains nothing by KO'ing a no-name.

Why does it feel like this story keeps playing out? Loses to the best guys, then gets a rising guy and he KO's them. Te-Huna, Vera (not quite, but you get the point).

No, obviously he wanted to fight in Brazil. Nothing wrong with that

I think Shogun would have had an easier time being Rashad than Corey, which kind of sucks to say.

what a waste. who can get hyped for this. no one.
