So much for MMA going mainstream

"Hey, I know let's find a handful of females, and make one champ of the world! Then we hype up Hector Camacho as, like, a chick that's super talenty!"

"Sweet plan dude . . . SWEET plan. Rack 'em!"

"Btw, you see that ESPN shoot? Shh-wing!"

MMA is mainstream, dork.

Ironic that a guy with thousands of posts in just one year calling someone else a dork.

Mainstream is the NFL, the NBA, MLB, even the NHL. MMA is not even legal in all 50 states yet. The sport has a ways to go before it is actually a mainstream sport. BS like this though will only set it back. The last thing I want MMA to become is a corrupt, fixed joke of a sport that boxing is.

I want to see GSP/Diaz just as much if not more than anyone but I also want the fight to make sense and right now it just doesn't.

Who cares. It's not like other big sports. In the NFL teams like the Patriots play teams like the bills. It's a totally different situation and just kind of dumb to cry about.

As much as the UFC has done to bring the sport to where its at in such a short period of time, its amazing that they now are doing anything they can to shatter any credibility the sport currently has.

What am I talking about? No not a womens fight headlining a PPV, its a risk but with the right fights built behind it I think it will be successful.

No, I am talking about ruining the credibility of what a CHAMPION is. A champion is the best of the best. A champion has put in their dues, put together a solid resume, and fought their way to the top. There are no arguments on said champions because they have earned and fought their way to that title.

Unless of course you fight in the UFC. In the UFC the above does not matter. What matters is your mouth. Not your skill...well unless trash talking is a skill. Winning a fight is not even a requirement, hell go on a losing streak, run your mouth and you will get a title shot over anyone else.

I thought Sonnen getting the most laughable title shot of all-time was bad but nope Uncle Dana had to top himself as usual and now we will get an even more laughable GSP and Diaz fight. Lets reward the guy who not only lost his LAST fight but also who has been suspended for the past year. Lets make the guy who just won an OFFICIAL #1 contender fight by knocking out yet another top 10 WW and has a fucking 5 fight win streak over top talent fight again before he gets the shot.

I know its all about money but where does it end? GSP sells fights regardless, why further run the integrity of the sport for a few extra bucks?

MAKE PEOPLE EARN THEIR FUCKING TITLE SHOTS!!!!

And Brock (1-1 in the UFC with 3 career MMA fights) getting a shot didn't bother you when Nog had the interim belt and Werdum was promised a shot too.

Nog went on to beat Randy anyway but he should have had first crack at him,

Diaz has MANY wins at WW in Zuffa including beating the former UFC WW champ in BJ Penn. Many people thought he won his last fight. Many people think that having marijuana metabolites in your urine shouldn't preclude you from a championship fight once you've served your time.

Chael Sonnen has ZERO wins at LHW in Zuffa. He was stopped in his most recent fight. He takes testosterone as well - legally or illegally - a far more contentious supplement than recreational marijuana, particularly when it's only marijuana metabolites in your urine NOT cannabinoids in your blood that they are testing for, so there's NO proof that Nick Diaz used marijuana during the actual fight as any sort of performance enhancing substance. There is literally NO comparison between the legitimacy of Diaz vs Chael for getting a title shot.

Personally I would prefer Hendricks getting the title shot based off of merit. However, Diaz vs GSP has been discussed for far longer than Hendricks has even been relevant and it will sell more PPVs so I understand Zuffa's rationale. The level of outrage should be 1/100 where 100 is Chael being gifted a title shot with 0 wins at 205 in the UFC and his own team member being far more deserving of a title shot.

I understand your beef TS and can't really disagree. But with that said...GSP-Diaz is the fight the people want to see.

I think bringing in women is going to hurt the UFC much more.

The sport would be more mainstream if they took credability into account?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Kimbo Slice is still the MMA king, when it comes to ratings. There ya go.

Who is this credibilty determined by? Who is it that is judging the sport based on it's credibilty-and based on said judgements deciding on it's ability to go mainstream? Sherdoggers?

How is GSP fighting Diaz worse than Jones fighting Sonnen.

Remind me TS, what are Sonnen's recent LHW credentials compared to Diaz' recent WW credentials?

I'm not saying that Diaz should be fighting GSP but with an argument like you used even a valid point gets thrown away.

This. Very valid point TS (and I agree). But poor delivery.
