So many MMA legends have terrible records.

And?

Watch the fights.

It is the great fights that make legends, not wins or losses.

most of them didn´t retire when it was time to do it (asuming they had to retire at their prime)

this isn't boxing.

there are so many ways to lose.

as you age, your skills deteriorate. what skills you were great at become very good; the very good skills become good; good drops to weak.

you start to develop holes in your game.

Pitiful, just shows that boxing is the superior combat sport.

i think it is great. it means they fought a lot of tough guys.

much better than everyone in boxing being 30-1 or something then retiring after 1 or 2 losses.

it also means a record like khabib's is even more special

Couture only fought the best of the best, as did many others. Also most of those legends had a really good stretch at one point in their careers.

WIth so many different ways to lose and the age factor its natural for MMA guys to have more losses if they have long careers.

The word "legend" gets thrown around far too often. I would say maybe 5 of the fighters you mentioned are actual legends

I always thought of MMA records being more like the NFL than anything else. If an NFL team goes 12-4 and wins the superbowl, most people would recognize that they had a great season and were legit champs. If an MMA fighter goes on a 12-4 run and wins the belt, I consider that a legit title run.

As others have said, there are many styles of fighting and so far there has been nobody who doesn't have areas they can improve, there are always fighters who are good where you are lacking, there are a lot of ways to win and lose an MMA fight, a lot of guys stay in too long most likely owing to the fact MMArtists didn't make much money in the past, also a lot of fighters get to the point where they open a gym for the next stage of their career, and they keep fighting to help increase recognition of themselves and their gym.

Floyd beat more top 10 p4p ranked boxers then Fedor and Anderson beat top 10 P4P mma fighters combined

I can’t imagine studying for ten years, then fighting for 10 or 15 years, only to exit your physical prime in your 30s or 40s.

Can you imagine how hard it would be for these fighters to give up their career & their passion, & still have half their life in front of them?

It must be hard to say goodbye to that quest for glory.

Floyd Mayweather is one of if not the most accomplished boxers in his era. I would say that in boxing there are more weight classes that are separated by less weight than the average MMA weight classes, so their are more ranked guys clustered together for someone to fight and be competitive against.

s0 36-11 isn't great.

the simple reason is all those people u listed fought each other in pride 2 or even 3 times during there carer.
also guys like tito and bj penn didn't know when to retire sooner.
