Just look at this list.

Lombard
Shields
Maia
Marquardt
Woodley
Koschek
Rory
Ellenberger
Condit
Nick Diaz (if he fights again)
Hendricks
Alves
Kampman
Lawlor
E. Silva
DHK
GSP
Brown
Hardy

I'm sure I'm missing someone.

Hard to argue against this list.

In terms of name rec, pretty much. But in terms of talent? I would have to say Lightweight. Welterweight is a close second, though. Everything other division is way behind both of them in terms of amount of talent.

LW and FW are ahead due to overall skill level. They have a lot of fighters good at one thing but not dominant with a majority of MMA skills like the LW and FW division. MW is coming up as well but WW is up there to.

As good as Pettis is, like how he's Bendo's Kryptonite, someone exists to be Pettis's Kryptonite. We have no idea who that is, or if he even exists yet. But someone is going to beat him before he reaches any GSP or Silva status, for better or worse.

Lightweight as a division is also deep across in the world, not just the UFC, too.

FW is only good recently. In terms of amount (the breadth, not the depth) of talent, BW actually has a bit more. It will change, soon, though. At some point, it's talent levels will surpass WW.

Probably, yeah. Here's a LW list for comparison:

Pettis
Melendez
Henderson
Grant
Khabib
Thomson
Maynard
Diaz
Dos Anjos
Dunham
Cerrone
Tibau
Varner
Diego
Gomi
Healy
Miller
Barboza
Wiman
Guillard
Jury
Khabilov
etc.

LW / WW / MW make all the other divisions look somewhat pathetic when you think about it.

Yeh. More prominent fighters than any division right now. With the addition of Cormier to LHW it's getting closer though.

Now who on this list has the newly-minted champion fought? Stange how you can become the GOAT overnight after beating 2 of the top 15 in your division.

People are still saying lw however lw lost a considerable amount of its contenders. Maynard, Frankie, Cerrone, Diaz, Miller are all gone and only two new talents have emerged in Khabib and Tj (not a new talent actually but still). Lw is still amongst the best but not the best anymore.

Fw is the shit, it is the best division imo, followed by a close second in WW div. Fw is filled with killers in Cub, chad, lamas, poirier, kz and has two huge names in Frankie and Jose. I think it will be the top div for the next 2 3 years. And on top of all the talent in UFC, Patricio Pitbull and Pat Curran will hopefully come to Ufc in the next 2 years and both of these guys are in the top 10, and curran is probably in top 4. FW is beyond stacked, best div imo.

Anderson himself has only beaten 4 people on that list.

Welterweight is easily the deepest division. LW is a close second, MW is #3.

Featherweight is pretty stacke too nowadays.
