So I just got this 70 lb husky.

It makes me curious as to why people want bigger dogs for guard dogs or for a presence. It seems like over kill and maybe a bit dangerous.

A lot of people get big dogs because they look cool or feel tough by owning one, but then they end of with something they can't completely manage.

Big dogs are easier. They spend most of the time laying around. I've had everything from a little Jack Russel to 110 lb american bulldog. The most difficult dog I ever owned was a 50 lb pit mix. That girl had energy for days. I'd try to run her, but that just built her stamina even more. haha

The dogs that are over 100 lbs get tired much faster and need less exercise overall. I have a buddy that has a 180 lb mastiff and other than the massive amount of food and water he needs, he's super low maintenance.

BIg dogs FTW!

The only good thing about husky's is they don't shed. They are terrible with kids from what I hear

Welcome to the club! But how are you against huskies if you've bred them?

70-100 lbs is enormous for a husky, they normally only weigh 35-60 lbs unless they're fat....

Arent huskies terrible for security?

Yes, they're nomadic so they often don't really understand territory or that you "own" an area etc. that's one of the reasons they escape your yard all the time and get separation anxiety (they don't realize you're coming home because if you get lost from a nomadic pack, they don't come back for you)

Most working breed dogs are medium to big dogs, which means they are more intelligent with a better temperament. The two breeds that are best to be a family dog are golden retrievers and Labrador retrievers who are both relatively big

Came here to say this. Big ass dogs are better in apartments than little rat fuckers

Not a husky by any means.

Yeah, I had mine in a townhouse where there wasn't a lot of space to run. She was fine because we went running almost everyday, but if we stayed home for a few days she would start getting hyper

Great dog if they can get exercise, but they go high octane otherwise

My husky still has less energy than the jack russel terriers I've known. Small dogs can suck for apartment dogs too

It was one of my pups that I sold a year ago. The girl is moving into a condo and thought he should go back to us. But the thing I was most wanting to post about, was that this is a BIG dog. He will likely be closer to 100 lbs when his frame fills out. But even right now, no man would be a match for this dog. It makes me curious as to why people want bigger dogs for guard dogs or for a presence. It seems like over kill and maybe a bit dangerous.
Your from TX right bud? Its hot as shit there, get them something like this lol

Pics because Husky's are awesome.

My dog is 140 pounds. 100 pounds isn't much, you'll be alright.

get a basset. They wont protect shit but will take over the bean bag you just bought.

I hate the way Imgur post pic.

What do you guys think of huskies in a hot climates? I always think they have to be really stinkin' hot seeing how they were bred for really cold climates.
