I liked both fighters going into that fight and didn't really care who won all that much, but that bullshit by Eddie in the 2nd round turned me against him.

Eddie holding the cage to save his ass from that guillotine was pathetic. The look on Eddie's face said it all. That bullshit led to him in mount against the cage and he holds the cage again. Then a blatant 12-6 elbow? And he goes on to the ref like he didn't know what he did wrong.

Made it all the more sweeter when Dustin got up, put hands on him and knocked his cheating ass out.

Literally every fighter grabs the cage at some point in a fight. >_>

'Eh, the 12-6 rule has never been clear. Fighters do it to the body all the time, he probably thought it was legal because it wasn't to the head. If they don't want fighters to throw them at all, they shouldn't allow them to throw them to the body most of the time.

There is clearly a problem with the UFCs rules though, when the most proven lightweight in the world keeps making these stupid mistakes because they're legal in literally every other promotion BUT the UFC - the UFC needs to change. There is no reason for these moves to be banned - especially when in that same fight Eddie starts using a neck crank... which is fine.

eddie has fought in japan with soccer kicks, anyone saying eddie cant learn the rules is a tit

Pretty funny he was looking at his corner, and his corner was screaming : '' ELBOWS '' Eddy threw one and got stood up and lost

The 12-6 rule is pretty fucking clear lol. Everytime they throw it to the body the ref warns them too.

The problem isn't with the UFC, it's with Eddie. He's been fighting in the UFC for years now. He hasn't been jumping around or anything and Bellator has the same 12-6 rule I'm pretty sure.

I do agree they shouldn't be banned, but they are. Lol at Eddie suddenly pretending he forgot the rules.

Then the problem is the UFC.

Keep in mind that 12-6s to the body are so acceptable that the UFC games routinely use them as a ground strike. There's no logical reason for them being banned to the head, much less the body - which is where he threw. If the UFC want to stop these silly mistakes from happening, they need to make effort to change the ruleset - but instead we're still waiting on them to actually change their gloves to prevent eyepokes like they said they were going to do years ago.

The problem is the UFC, they are not focused on the 'fight' part of the fight business.

You do know the rules belong to the athletic commissions and not the UFC right? Any promotion that fights under those commissions follow the same rules whether it's Bellator, UFC, LFA, etc. 12-6 elbows are illegal anywhere period. Who cares if you can throw them to the body in a video game. Everyone knows it's a stupid rule but you still have to follow them. This isn't as confusing as the knee to a grounded opponent which is different from state to state.

It's the commision, the UFC tried to get it passed.

You have no clue what you are even talking about

I think you're misunderstanding the 12-6 rule a little to be honest. I've played all the UFC games and I'm pretty sure I know the elbows you're talking about. In the Ea ones you can throw them from side control to the body. UFC undisputed as well I think.

The thing is with those elbows, they're not 12-6. They're 9-3. A downwards elbow is perfectly legal once you're side on even a bit. Look at Travis Browne's downward elbow finishes he has had in the UFC.

Yup I know that, but the UFC are the only promotion that have the ability to actually change the unified rules, they've done it before. My point on the video game is being misunderstood by you, my point was that the fact they were being used in the game was an indicator of their legality.

I agree with the point on knees.

12-6 is only elbows from the ceiling to the ground. Not sure what you can do in the game but it's silly to even bring them up. No one is going to bring up a video game to talk about what the rules actually are.

Well let's see. One is a game, the other a UFC fight. It's illegal and EVERYONE knows it, except Eddie of course. Pissed me off when he used knees against Poirier the first time, I'm glad he lost.

Eddie is a mardy bitch, so I'm glad he got slapped. Shame he'll always have the 'you got stood up' excuse though.

Intentional or unintentional, glad the one who wasn't committing fouls won.

The UFC doesn't set the rules, it's the local AC.

This fight made me a new Poirier fan. I can’t stand fighters like Eddie. Even that little jerky bobble-head thing he does before the fight starts pisses me off.
