So Cruz just blamed Obama for the government shutdown. Republicans get in here, defend him.

Common knowledge is that Cruz is responsible for the shutdown in Fall of 2013, but think about that. Cruz is a first-term Senator in his first year, and he alone is responsible for shutting down the federal government. This was also when Democrats still ran the Senate, with Reid as the majority leader.

Putting the blame on him is admitting he made the leadership of both parties, including the President, his bitch.

Very emotive speech 10/10. Soooo was Obama responsible or not?

Typical Ted, the amazing inveterate liar, the most disingenuous politician I can remember in my life.

Your implication that that is something we should be impressed by is entirely unwarranted.

This is akin to claiming that we all need to have respect and awe for Dylan Klebold because he "made Columbine his bitch".

All it really tells us is that Cruz is a fucked up, dangerous psycho.

Long story short - Cruz organized Republicans to have a federal budget that didn't include funding for Obamacare.

Obama refused to sign the budget, saying he'll sign one when it includes Obamacare funding.

The stalemate went beyond the budget deadline, causing a 'government shutdown' which actually 83% of the federal departments recieve funding, because they're labeled 'essential.'

But, since the MSM is on the side of liberals, Obama is blameless and Republicans are completely at fault.

Cruz and other Republicans began signing funding for individual departments. Obama wouldn't sign them, thus keeping the 'government shutdown' in place.

After a week and a half, Jon Boehner, the speaker of the house, stepped in and approved a full budget, which included Obamacare, to the President's desk. It was happily signed, and the shutdown was lifted.

The MSM still run with the narriative that Cruz was solely responsible for the horrible shutdown of the entire federal government.

This is like a guy telling his wife that if she won't approve the affair he wants to have with his co-worker he will divorce her.

The wife says "fuck no" to the affair, he ends the marriage, then tells everyone that his wife was the cause of their divorce.

You know Obama has done a great job when current Republican candidates are still running against a 2nd term president. Obviously that is because the job he has done is a major political loss to their party.

And on the other side Hillary is running on how she can continue the progress we've made.

Point being, the shit come out of the mouths of Republican presidential candidates is nothing more than political bullshit.

So, if the roles were reversed in the Bush administration and Pelosi offered a budget that didn't fund the Iraq war, Bush said fuck off, shut down the government, and demanded a budget that funded the war.... Pelosi would be to blame for the government shutdown.

I don't think the MSM would run with that narriative.

LMAO! It's Obama's fault that he wouldn't sign a bill that dismantled his signature piece of legislation that obviously he believes very strongly in!

You can't make this shit up.

There's plenty of blame to go around for the government shut down, but making a budget the includes defunding Obamacare without an alternative was a non-starter and Cruz and the GOP knew it.

With all this in mind, it doesn't change the fact that Obama had a budget on his desk, before the shutdown, and refused to sign it.

You may agree with him about not signing it. That's fine. But the fact remains he could have adverted the shutdown by signing the Obamacare-less budget.

To be fair, if the roles were reversed, I doubt the Dems would have reacted the same way as Cruz and company.

Horseshit. That's like a terrorist saying it was the negotiators fault he shot the hostage.

Yep, the Democrats were fine with the war. It gave them ammunition to blast Bush with. But would put their foot in the sand and seriously threaten to shut down funding for it? Nope. Only gave lip-service to it.

I remember that being a catch-phrase in dozens of media reports.

'Republicans are holding the government hostage!'
