snow by RHCP is the same chord progression as save tonight by eagle eye cherry

Who accused anyone? And I am a musician, and a much better one than you, id bet.

Just insane ive never noticed this before.
Lol.

First off music isn't a competition

Secondy, if you're going to talk shit back it up. I don't like to talk myself up but I highly, highly, doubt you're a "much better" musician than me.

I've got plenty of videos of live performances if you really wanna get into this, and hundreds of tracks and performances with different bands. Solo performances of original songs
So you had better be a damn serious musician with plenty of stuff online to show for it mr badass. I'm also going to work starting January 15th for 6 months steady job performing.

And I never go around saying I'm "a much better musician" than anyone... if you have that attitude nobody is going to want to play with you moron

If you're ever in Austin Texas you can come show me how awesome you are. And Id bet my left nut you will not be up to par.

Anyone that considers themselves a musician, whether good or bad, knows that nearly every song is made up of the same chords. You never realized "god damn it seems like I'm playing G, C and D a lot when covering nearly every hit ever made"?

This dude is so surprised a 4 chord rock song shares the same chords as another rock song...

To the point where he needs to make a thread about it. And then claims he's positive he's a better musician than me when I call him out for making a dumb thread.

These songs don't have the same tempo or anything lol...

So you are a musician but you dont know the difference between a chord progression and tempo.

Got it

...wtf is your problem?

A million songs have that same chord progression... in order for your point to have any merit the tempo should be the same too, or similar. And in order it to even be considered plagiarism the vocal melody has to be the same too. You'e a dumbass.

You can find plenty of music I've posted on here.

Triggered bro. Take your xanax and calm ur tits

LOL I remember when this first came out. I was the only one of my friends that could actually sing the whole thing. But sadly, they did not think it was as cool as I did.

I know no one will care about this one, but the intro riff for I Never Wanted by As I Lay Dying is the exact same intro riff for Change In The House Of Flies by Deftones.

LOL I know. He came at me saying "I'm a much better musician than you" just because I mentioned the fact that two songs that consist of 4 chords being the same isn't uncommon.. thresdworthy, or anything. Then said he would break my guitar and give me free lessons if we met in person.

Like what in the hell lol. I simply said if you're going to act that way show us some of your music.. Just an ignorant thing to say and respectable musicians don't act that way. It's also not a contest.. songwriting is art, it's all subjective.

I'd cut him some slack if he had a point here.

If you want to see two songs with the same chord progression and song structure, check out

Pixies- where in my mind
Compare it to Weezer- Say it ain't so

Or for RHCP
Dani California compared to last dance with Mary Jane.

90% of western music resolves around either the major scale or natural minor. (Especially rock music)

If youre going to play in key, you now only have 7 potential chords to work with.

One of them is a diminished chord, so really you'e down to 6.

6 fucking chords. That's what most rock bands work with when writing a song.

Obviously you can break away from this with experience and training, but most pop songs stick to this formula and alot of popular rock bands honestly are not all that technical.

It is impossible to write a 4 chord song that has never been done before.

And unless the verse and chorus are indentical.. (like the songs i mentioned) It's not worth discussing. It gets on my nerves when people who don't understand music want to act like artists are stealing songs.

Vanilla ice is one of the only examples I can think of that deserved to be sued.

And I believe he won the law suit.

Zeppelin copied alot of old folk songs too. Most of those songs were so old there' nobody to sue.

Like house of the rising sun.

That songs hundreds of years old, there' nobody to credit.

So if @revoltub wants to come give me music lessons.. lol, I really doubt you're in a position to.

Bro ive been playing for 15 years. Please try me.

I came at you because you saif i wasnt a musician...like lol....you dont know me dude.

Lol at your posts....jeez you compensating for something?

Also all songs dont use the same chord progression...the point was that i never noticed it within those 2 specific songs. But someone like you is too busy being some kind of hipster "artist" with a stick up your ass to actually read and understand a thread

You, you are the type of guy who, if you were a critic, would give a movie a 2 star review and then later on give it a 5 star re review after everyone says they like the movie.

Yeah my small dick.

Yeah but you are also playing minor and major variations of those chords. G7 isnt the same as G. Each chord is a base for scales and each scale is a base for chords.

Yeah you can say most songs use the same chords (and they do) but it is more complicated than just a "chord"
