I have my first fight coming up in about six weeks. Occasionally I will smoke some weed with Friends or family (once every two weeks or less). Right now my cardio is good but I'm hoping to improve it.

What I would like to know is if I smoke some weed now will it have a negative impact on my cardio? Obviously not smoking would be best. I plan on not smoking or drinking 4 weeks prior to the fight.

Look at Nick and Nate Diaz they smoke, but they also do triathlons

True enough. Although I'm no professional athlete lol I would guess that it won't hurt my cardio, and if It does I'm guessing a run or a class will fix it up. I just don't wanna gas on my fight.

Smoke after the fight instead

Depends on why your fighting. Are you fighting with the mind set that you want to try and be the best fighter you can possibly be or are you just doing this as a hobby. Simple answer no but if you have to get high try edibles instead of filling your lungs with smoke.

Gassing is more dependent on breathing technique.
When you exert on each strike without inhaling back in, thats what causes you to gas. You can have the best VO2 max in the world, but the same principles still apply.

Everyone gasses on their first fight or exhibition match. Do your best not to, but its your first time, nerves kick in, being in a stressful situation, adrenaline, etc.
Also, don't forget to breathe in the clinch as well, its a gas tank killer if you don't.

Best of luck.

I think it cant prejudice if you are not only breathing weed all time

one thing it can prejudice if you smoke near the fight day is the munchies due the blunt effect make you to fail miserably on weight after a big assault on refrigerator

I would say if it kills your motivation, dont smoke. If it doesnt, go ahead. 4 weeks from fight wont make a significant difference

My cardio greatly improved when I switched from smoking to vaping. My friend has a vape pen that uses canabis oil so if you have the resources I would recommend that.

Is this a google translate gone wrong?

why mate?

i am not a big fan of google translate, because they have a lot of wrong stuff who look like weird when translate portuguese to english,so i almost always try to write by myself

I would say it isn't the oxygen that you should worry about, rather, having that thc in your system when training. It can numb your sense of urgency and reaction time. You program your body to respond a particular way through repetition. Guess what happens when you are relaxed or don't feel as concerned as people are throwing bombs at you

I'd knock it on the head for two reason, that stuff has fair amount of tar in it that is gonna sit in capillaries of your lungs. It is going to reduce capacity, whether it is even a measurable difference, I dunno.
Second this more my own bro-science theory, I think better to avoid anything that affects your brain before fighting. Even after the direct effects wear off, it still takes your brain chemistry a while to settle down. I think it better to have brain in normal default state for decent period of time because if brain chemistry is slightly off, then you start getting hit in the head, the effects are compounded, maybe you get knocked out easier.
This is what I was told when I was young by youth club boxing coach. I think maybe they say to keep me straight and narrow because I like to drink and smoke and get up to no good. But it stuck with me.

You usually do a good job with English but that post made zero sense. Just giving you some shit.

I don't think their is any science backing what you are saying. In fact, THC isn't the compound in Marijuana that causes relaxation, that would be cannabinoids CBD and CBN.

I'd argue that you can potentially heighten that sense of muscle memory when training/fighting on cannabis.

You were lied to by that coach, who was clearly just trying to keep a kid off drugs. There is absolutely no science supporting the notion that cannabis can affect your brain in a way that it makes it easier for you to get knocked out. Mafanofe's post above makes more sense than this theory.

Yes, excuse my ignorance about the cannabinoids - you are right. Though, my statement was my own experience, training anywhere within a couple of days of strong weed.

A benefit to me has been creative thinking and pain relief but as far as assisting the OP, I get the impression it won't be some kind of benefit as he just wants to get high.
