Skyrim Special Edition

The game runs smoothly on PC. I don't use Ultra settings but the quality is acceptable for me. I haven't had a problem yet. I opt on beta immediately and never get conflicts or crash.

I started a new modded game to try some combinations and everything works fine. The same popular mods are already available and most other will be soon. I really like the "Apocalypse Magic" and "Perk Ordinator" mods, they really change the gameplay compared to vanilla Skyrim.

Man I wouldn't mind a mod for a better way of stashing and looking for items.. Weapons and armor in particular. I hoard everything and it's annoying to scroll down forever looking for an item or an item I might have...

There are tons of mod coming for that. There are already several Breezehome improvement mods that can help you manage your stuff. For example, there's a cellar with half a dozen different chests. Put items of the same kind in each chest to fasten your research: weapons / armor / misc / supply / enchanting gear / alchemy gear, etc.

There's even one called "treasure chest home" which you carry on you and can access everywhere! It goes into "apparel", you just put it on and you're instantly teleported inside your portable home. Not many chest inside but since you're carrying it with you, you can always access it, pick your stuff up and re-organize it at your main home. There's a bed, all crafting stations, shrines, altars and a merchant in there, it's a must-get!

So yesterday I uninstalled/reinstalled the game and the same problem was happening with the previous three saves. I went back and loaded about five saves back, before the game started acting up, and it seemed to be working fine.

I played for about four hours yesterday and it "only" crashed three times. Hopefully Bethesda comes out with a fix in the next few days but at least the game is playable now.

Oh and I'm at level 26 now. Doing the mage quest line now.

Just hit level 26 and am crashing quite a bit now. Wtf gives

thanks for the info...

some minor issues and complaining that ive seen so far:

- horse at my manor - horses die at my manors from random attacks. Ive bought 3 so far and they've all eventually died from attacks.. wtf.. whats the point of buying a horse if they die from random attacks? I am sure theres a mod to fix that but I can't believe vanilla version allows this. its quite annoying...

- recently encountered weird lighting issues. torches eminate an odd 45 degree light. probably from the most recent update.

- In the kitchen of my manor if I walk in a certain area everything in that room disappears visually. weird.

- sometimes the doors in whiterun town aren't there - replaced with a wall. but you can still open the door where it should be.

- firing arrows from a cliff/roof/whatever down is really aggravating. it looks like you will clear the cliff by a lot but it doesn't and it pisses me off when I see the arrow fly backwards immediately from hitting something. enemies closer by will notice and start running my way... argghhh...

---

Question about the manors...

So I own 2 so far First one has my entire family (wife and kid) plus two of my followers. Second one -Heljarchen Hall- has one (Illia the witch) and a floater. He should be the one taking care of this house because hes from that region but goes from this manor to the 1st. Back and forth. If I go to my first manor hes there and I go back to Hejarchen Hall he walks up and says hi. I am just worried about attacks - don't want Illia to die. Want to make sure she's sufficiently supported. Don't know how to fix it. If I hire 2nd guy,Illia walks away and is suppose to return to her tower but I can't find her there.. Really annoying...

- If the bard in the hold dies, can you replace them? I just reset the checkpoint and attack till I kill them all without losing anyone. can your wife be killed in the attack?

@SaiWa Pretty detailed post where you forgot to mention your platform. If I remember correctly, you're on X-box. I know they're having issues, it's a good idea to keep track of what happens, when it happens and what changes / mods / events are affecting the bugs.

As for your questions:

-The horse attacks: Skyrim's wilderness is unforgivable. Even at you manor, nobody is safe from an attack. Horses tend to run toward an attack, even when the attacker outmatches them by far. I know there's a mod for better horses but I never tried it. The best way not to lose a horse is NOT to have a horse in the fist place.

-Issues and bugs: normal when they happen here and there, abnormal if they keep happening at the same place, even in different circumstances. Keep a log like you seem to be doing and browse the Bethesda forum, issues are addressed quickly over there.

-Arrow aiming: broken from day 1. The easy way is to aim lower than your crossair when near, at the crossair in mid-range and over the crossair at long range. It's pretty reliable if you practice intensely at different range. I only use bows against dragons and I only use the Bound Bow, it is reliable and strong. Bound Bow doesn't use "real" arrows but I guess they still make sound if they hit something next to an enemy.
______________

-I know there are issues with the manor management and the Steward system. Normally, you assign the follower to be the Steward from dialogue, not from just letting him/her there. Talk to them, an option will appear if they're not already considered the Steward.

Don't worry too much about Illia, she can take care of herself. I wouldn't leave her there without leveling her up a little bit though. Bring her with you on some of your adventures! She's lethal and she's level capped at 40. She will gain levels fast if you bring her with you in a couple of Draugr tombs. Give her a Circlet and a Robe of Destruction, she will unleash freezing hell on your enemies. Give her a staff of whatever, she will use it while casting with her other hand.

She's my main follower. I gave her a staff of Flame Wall: she spreads Fire with one hand and Ice with the other! She's incredibly resistant to everything it seems: I never seen her die. I'm lvl 50 and I strictly play on Legendary: Illia just never dies. I don't use destruction magic but my battlefield is so full of fire and ice, I can't see what's going on!

She's awesome at slowing an enemy with ice while he crawls across a long fire wall. Few make it out of the fire and if they do, they get the frying pan: Dawnbreaker will break their dawn! I truly love Skyrim!

@SaiWa

Do you fast travel a lot? The reason I ask is that house attacks and some of those graphical glitches happen more often when you fast travel. That is one of the reasons I quit doing that for the most part.

So I been messing with illusion

it sucks so far. I'm hoping it gets better closer to level 100.

It made me start bringing a follower around so I could use some illusion perks and yeah I usually end up killing them with destruction magic cause they are always in the way

I am on a PC actually. Built a super powerful comp and now I cant get enough of Skyrim.

@m52nickerson - yes I do fast travel a lot. Don't you? It would take me forever to goto one place to another. especially when I am returning to sell all my items, buying, converting to blg materials, stashing all magical items, building manor, etc between each mission(s)...

It sucks that the stash is so capped. I am always keep a bunch of potion with me but I rarely use most of them so I am going to put away most of them except for a few healing, mag, stam. heal disease... The only time I use potions so far is when I am fighting a very tough dragon.

Hit 33 last night.. 28 percent of the achievements acquired.

Started the dark brotherhood quest line. Too bad their armor isn't better than the nightingale armor I've been using.

Did get the mace from the haunted house, that thing is pretty bad ass.

No I quit fast traveling for the most part. You get more attacks on your houses, more attacks by Vampires on cities and towns and generally more errors, like doors disappearing or graphics not loading right. So at this point I hit the road for everything.

Yes, it sucks when you want to haul a bunch of stuff back to sell. After awhile you get get use to leaving things and only taking those small items that net big cash. It make finding those gem stones that much better.

I'm fucking done with this game until they patch it. Gonna do Watch Dogs and Dishonored in the meantime.

Only Bethesda could release a "remastered" version of a game where I experience worse bugs than I did the first time around. Bugs, I understand - the game is too damn big not to have them. But when you're constantly crashing and loading and crashing that's a pretty big bug to still have five years later.

Illusion is hard to use, but the chaos if can cause is fun. I find it more useful with distractions then a main attack. Casing Rage on a single member of a group can get you enough time to kill one or two and make the odds a little better.

Potions are Skyrim's secret to becoming rich! Learn how to brew multiple effect potions and you'll be visiting alchemist everywhere! Even the investor perk will not be enough to give them the money needed to buy your potions! Here's a quick tip:

Sell or drop all the "minor" potions, you don't need them and they're worthless. Chose an alchemy station and design it as you main station. Store all your ingredient in a secure chest nearby, it will free up a lot of carryweight. Only carry potions you will need in combat or in particular situations: 1-2 potions of lockpick, 1-2 potions of pickpocket, 1-2 potions of resist, etc. Sell everything else.

Now, learn how to brew multiple effect potions. Either "cheat" by learning the recipe online or just experiment. Be sure to select the "Thief" standing stone and sleep before brewing potions, it will level up your alchemy skill fast! Use "fortify alchemy" items to brew stronger potions. When done, sell your potions to alchemists in every city. Make sure to ALWAYS buy all their ingredients and repeat the process. You'll reach 100k in no time!

Fast travel is convenient for quest completion but not required for exploration. Like the other guy said, solving quests without fast travelling is a huge hassle in Skyrim. Attacks are really annoying at low level but as soon as you reach 25+, they're a cakewalk. I worry a lot more about Dragons appearing than Vampire attacks.

Dragon attacks are also linked to fast travel. They will often spawn at the worst moments and worst places. Having an Ancient Dragon attack you while in Markarth can be hell of annoying: it will circle behind cover and remain over the city for a long while. Even fast travel wont get rid of it, you must get your bow and patience out: it can take dozens of minutes just to hurt it enough to force it to land.

With the "money potion" trick, you will soon acquire enough ressource to not care about losing a measly horse. Followers can be "resurrected" with Dead Thrall over and over again: you never really lose them!

Illusion is the fastest school to level up. It is mainly used as a way to gain easy XP. Spells like muffle give experience whenever you cast them. If you just boost your magika enough to be able to cast invisibility, leveling it up becomes a cakewalk. Just cast and re-cast invisibility while walking through the city. Use it to pickpocket and steal stuff. You will soon reach level 100, make it Legendary and repeat the process again.

Illusion is hard to use, but the chaos if can cause is fun. I find it more useful with distractions then a main attack. Casing Rage on a single member of a group can get you enough time to kill one or two and make the odds a little better.

Illusion spells are only useful at master level, but they become slow because they must be dual cast. Harmony is very useful during the civil war quest: pacify large groups of foes while you take care of the other flank! Hysteria is the same principle but enemies flee instead of just hanging around. Mayhem is even funnier: cast it on your enemies and they will attack each other. Neat!

Expert Illusion spells are the same but weaker. Invisibility stands alone as the main leveler of Skyrim. It's also the Thief and Assassins' most useful tool. One cool trick with Harmony is to find a heavy populated city. Cast it repeatedly in the middle of the crowd and you will level up so fast, it's insane. Guards will threaten you but they never attack for that.
