Skyrim Special Edition

Awesome, looks like I'm not finishing the Dragonborn questline. I go to read the Waking Dreams black book to get to Miraak and nothing happens. I was reading online that this is a glitch... and only the only thing people suggested was reloading saves... well I got that book a long time ago and I'm sure as fuck not starting over.

Fucking fail.
Yeah, Bethesda didn't fix any of the glitches from last gen, they left that to the Modders..

The Unofficial Patch might still work for you.

Guys whats a good beginner race for me? I like to just battle and i don't use magic. I messed up and picked Brenton but going to start over because i don't want to use magic.

But Breton IS the best race. Don't worry that their starting skills favor magic. It literally doesn't matter. You can level whatever skills you want. They just start a few points lower which means zilch. Bretons have 25% Magic Resist and the Greater Power: Dragon Skin which absorbs 50% of all incoming magic attacks. Combine that with the Atronach standing stone and magic CANNOT HURT YOU. If you level alteration to get the Atronach Perk in the Alteration tree, you'll never take magic damaged, ever. It's op.

Otherwise Orcs and Redguard are your best bet. Orcs have a racial power that lets them do a ton of extra dps for 60 seconds and Redguard have one that lets your stamina regen at an insane rate. But really, Breton's resistances and absorb are the strongest. Magicka attacks are your biggest threat as a warrior. Absorb works on dragon breath too.

Thanks , if I stick with Breton do I use the two handed sword ? Or do I get a single one with a shield?

Should I do melee battles and stealth or what's your suggestion for the early parts . I really have no clue how to use magic.

Sooner or later, you will need to learn a little bit of magic. It cannot be completely avoided. I recommend you focus on melee battle with a little magic as support. Spells like stoneflesh, flamecloak and some creature summons are a must for warriors! A simple spell like conjure familiar can be enough to distract an enemy long enough to give you time to heal, flee or flank him.

Like @sgt jumpy said, Breton is one of the best race in Skyrim. Especially when you're not sure what you're doing. Just do as he said: find the Atronach stone, it will enhance your chance to absorb magic. When you absorb magic, you nullify the damage AND replenish your magika at the same time. It's beastly!

For your last question, I think sword and shield is the easiest way to go. Two-handed is more powerful but blocking is slow and awkward, it doesn't work very well. Shield block is very effective: you have perks to enhance it and you can even block arrows, bash with the shield and slow time while blocking. You can also enchant your shield with fortify block to make it even better!

Always carry a bow for ranged ennemies, you will need it. Just put one or two perks in archery, it should be enough if you're not playing an archer build. Be careful with stamina management: you need stamina to perform power attacks and shield bash. Favor stamina and health when you gain a level. You shouldn't need to put much points in magicka if you don't intend to use it much.

Have fun!

Experiment. Really find what you like and what works for you and don't be afraid to change your tactics later on. The way skills/perks and leveling works you really can't screw up.

Of course you can screw up! If you favor "gameplay perks" (lockpick, speech, pickpocket) early, you'll get maimed in battle! You have to favor damage first, that's the best way to stay alive: kill the enemy before he kills you. Having 1000 HP is useless if you can't hurt your opponent.

If @TrippleOG decides to go sword and shield, I would advise him to favor one-handed and block for the first few levels. He should also put 1-2 perks in archery. There are lots of archer enemies on top of structures or in protected spots, you need to take them down fast. Then, I'd advice him to pick the armor he will wear: heavy or light. Put points there too, it's a must. He must keep favoring these 3 perks: that means put a point as soon as it becomes available.

The rest is pretty much as you said: hard to screw up. As long as you get a good start, the rest follows. But as I said, don't go picking gameplay perks too early unless you really know what you're doing...

You can make the game harder on yourself, but you really can't screw up. Battle, for a large part can be avoided if need be. Most people won't do that, so even the increase in skill levels without perks can be enough to keep up with the enemies if you play smart.

You're right. I always speak from personal experience and I've been playing on Legendary for years. I have made multiple builds and I always struggle a lot in the first 10 levels. I have to power level just to make it to the golden claw. I make a point never to turn down difficulty but it's hard...

For someone who plays on novice or apprentice, most of what I said is pointless. I tend to forget how easy the game is on lower difficulties...

See I always stick to Adept. I dislike damage sponges which is what the higher difficulties produce. On those higher difficulties you defiantly have to focus on combat skills. You simply don't do enough base damage to kill much and the enemies do more then enough to kill you with one well placed shot.

I've never played Skyrim before. I chose Nord as my race. Was that a bad move?

Lol it's an RPG - you're supposed to play how you want. So if you wanted a Nord, I can't see how that's a bad move.

Well yeah, just wondering if I chose a gimpy class.

Maxed out my Archery last night so now I've gotta fight hand-to-hand

Thanks for the knowledge guys , I continued with the Breton and got to level 6 last knight . I still haven't found any good weapons , I'm running around with a two handed axe , praying I hit them first in battle. I did get a nice bow I think but I'm terrible at shooting arrows and fighting.

I still haven't touched any magic or potions really I have to learn that , I've just been eating the food when my health is low.

Also I didn't know there was difficulty , in fallout 4 I felt like my guy became to strong eventually , should I increase any difficulty now or leave it as normal? The challenge is always fun.
