Skyline Chili

Any Skyline Chili fans here?

It's basically a brand of Cincinnati chili, and it's mostly an Ohio thing. But, you can buy it at a lot of grocery stores on the east coast: Where To Buy

The first time I tried it, I bought the frozen version. After the first bite, I was like "What the hell? This tastes like cinnamon. Is it supposed to taste like this? Yuck." and threw it away. However, I've been to Ohio/Skyline several times since, and it has really grown on me.

Now, I'd describe it as more of a middle-eastern taste. I guess it has kind of a slightly spicy cinnamon/clove/allspice kinda taste. Really good though. Don't expect it to taste like Texas chili.

Typically, it's served as shown below: spaghetti noodles, chili, and mounds of cheddar cheese. You can get onions and red beans on top too.

i have absolutely no idea how that place is able to convince people their food is good. it's diarrhea mixed with water and spices. we've got several here. Cincinnati should be ashamed to call that garbage 'Cincinnati Chili'

that being said, i've eaten there many times. my buddy worked there during high school and we'd get free food so it was tolerable.

i just finished. it took everything i had to make it through. holy shit that was bad. it may be better on pasta but it already tasted really chalky.

Cinnamon is good but really need to be careful with how much you use, can fuck up a dish real quick

i am not a cinnamon fan for the most part. i don't even like cinnamon toast crunch. they seem pretty heavy handed with it in this chili

It's pretty mediocre imo, and I've had it at the restaurants in Cincy. Also, chili of any kind over spaghetti is something that should be done only when really high or drunk.

Why ruin good chili with spaghetti on bottom and a TON of shredded cheddar on top?

I tried putting spaghetti under my chili once and it lessened it not enhanced.


I guess if you make a really "smooth" nit chunky chili ot might work but why would you do that to your chili.


Proper chili has no ground beef. Its chopped up flank and skirt steak (ground sausage can be used for filler if you only have limited steak) With chunks of various peppers, beans, onions, spices etc.

I tske my chili seriously and Skyline is not serious chili

I was raised in Texas- been to plenty chili cook offs in my youth in the 80s . Over half the chilis had beans in it . Maybe its different in tbe Houston area but where I grew up beans were in the chili more times than not - I remember as I hated beans as a kid n would seek out the ones without at the cook offs.

The Texans dobt have beans in chili is more of myth than reality from my experience.
